Posted September 21, 200816 yr Like most of my Oktoberfest photos, they usually take a back seat to spending time with friends and family and enjoying the festival. This year was no different. I spent most of my time running back and forth between the different beer stands and waiting in long lines for Helmut’s butter rum pretzels. The festival was fantastic and in between my consumption of beer, I managed to shoot a couple of crowd shots.
September 21, 200816 yr Yeah, when BuildingCincinnati, UncleRando, UCPlanner, and I went, it was pretty packed and pretty drunk. Great photos. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 21, 200816 yr Sounds like this weekends Canal Days in Delphos... Packed and Drunk! Nice pics.
September 22, 200816 yr Has P&G ever opened their greenspace before? I don't recall ever being allowed on the grass.
September 22, 200816 yr I remember Octoberfest on both of P&G's lawns soon after they were built, and the festival going another block east to Pike St. The rides used to be set up mainly over by the Taft Theater block.
September 22, 200816 yr Has P&G ever opened their greenspace before? I don't recall ever being allowed on the grass. I am not sure if the lawn was ever officially opened but I can confirm that the lawn has been used for the last five years.
September 22, 200816 yr Was down there with Seicer on Saturday, I'm pretty sure that lawn was roped off and people were supposed to stay off, although there wasn't really anyone around enforcing that. Is the lawn open to the public on regular days? Oktoberfest was a blast to photograph, although not as much fun when you're not 21. :(
September 22, 200816 yr Gordon, I am looking forward to your photos. Chadoh21, I didn't know Columbus had an Oktoberfest, when is it?
September 22, 200816 yr It was Sept. 5th-7th in Columbus. I only went once when I was little. It was actually pretty big. Its held in German Village. I remember there being big rides there, particularly the Zipper.
September 22, 200816 yr I have more, but they will come tomorrow. "Hugs for all!" I didn't get a hug :( Beer was dropped. Taps was played. It was so very tragic.
September 22, 200816 yr Hahaha I love the taps photo. At one point Saturday night Seicer and I were trying to get photographs of the rides spinning around and I knelt down into something wet. In the gutters on the sides of the streets there was nothing but beer flowing towards the drains, it was really disgusting, yet very sad to see all that beer go to waste. :( Looking forward to the rest Cincyimages!
September 22, 200816 yr Has P&G ever opened their greenspace before? I don't recall ever being allowed on the grass. Every half hour or so a security guard would come out and tell people to get off the grass.

Every half hour or so a security guard would come out and tell people to get off the grass. What is the grass for anyway? To look pretty? I don't think I have ever seen P&G employees using it.
September 22, 200816 yr ^ That taps photo is too funny. I HATE that P&G won't allow the grass to be used for Oktoberfest or Taste. Jesus, it is just grass. It will grow back. Not like you can't afford new sod after it is trampled. I think it would really make that end of the festival nicer and even more like a beer garten.

September 22, 200816 yr LOL the naked cowboy at least we got him out of NY for a day, to inflict his "entertainment" on the poor citizens of another city! http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
September 22, 200816 yr The Naked Cowboy is from Cincinnati. According to legend he was previously a waiter at the TGI Fridays near Tri-County Mall. I first saw him in 1999 in the cargo hold of a C-130 at the Dayton Air Show in 1999.
