trains are gay

Not as gay as urbanohio. This stuff is getting out of control. Look at the ads now!

david-I didn't get that ad. My guess is it is one of those smart ads, that looks at where you go on the the internets and makes helpful suggestions.

It was in the orientation thread har har har

Sad, but the comment was inappropriately really funny

CLEVELAND — Five men forced their way into a house in the 3690 block of East 57th Street Monday evening and shot a 39-year-old man three times, before running off with computer games.

The victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his left shoulder, right shin and left thigh, police said in a report. A 31-year-old woman, a 12-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl were not injured.

The children told police that the shooting victim had been playing video games with two of the suspects. They left and returned with three more young adults. The victim was lying on a bed about 8 p.m. when the five burst into the room and fired.

They took an Xbox, a PlayStation 2 and about two dozen games.

The family knew one suspect's nickname and said they ranged in age from 19 to 25. No arrests have been made. The victim was in critical condition at 1 p.m. today, a MetroHealth spokeswoman said.

This is why you just take a knee when you are up big in Madden....just run the clock out...don't run up the score.

I am sick, but that comment is sadly funny. So I guess the end of humanity is near.

The story is just a sick example of where we are in society.  And you wonder why people feel safer in Avon than Cleveland?

The story is just a sick example of where we are in society. And you wonder why people feel safer in Avon than Cleveland?

Excuse me.  This did not happen just because the men were in Cleveland.  I feel bad for the guy who got shot, but this happened because the men he chose to associate himself with are the kind of people who run around with guns and shoot people to get what they want.  None of my friends are like that, and I feel perfectly safe in the city.

Do a little thinking next time before you make such an ignorant comment.

I know I would feel safer in Cleveland than I would in Avon.  Ick!

Damn, that's a crazy story ...

I this on the water main article and found it amusing.

In an attempt to give some Cleveland residents a relief from the struggling economy Mayor Frank Jackson today ordered the water department to open a main line on East 40th and Hamilton providing a free cold bath to the homeless. He said it also would provide enough water to allow a free car wash to every driver who commutes into the downtown area today. When interviewd Jackson said "Being that I cannot provide a solution to the rising crime rate here in the city and curtail the corruption that has plagued our political system, I can give an early Christmas present to All the citizens of our great city in the form of another bath, one for their automobiles and another to our homeless constituents who have helped elect me." He also stated that he chose the area of East 40th and Hamilton because of its "out of the way" nature in respect to the immediate downtown area thus providing a secluded and secured spot for the nude bathers expected to participate today. "I only wish I could add a little soap" he said laughingly...."but the soapbox I stood on to be elected has long been empty".

Many of the Cleveland City hall employees were first in line this morning to kick off the event. One employee, who asked to remain annonomous, stated "This will make my day ! Not only do I get to give the taxpayers a bath everyday when I come to work for them but now I get to experience the feeling of an ice cold shower too." Also seen at the event was Art McCoy, activist on Black on Black crime, who stated "This is what Cleveland's all about Keepin' it Real "!

The large gushing water extravaganza will continue tonight until 9 p.m. at which time the party will be moved to Public Square where Joe Masek, RTA mastermind, will personally pilot the HealthLine bus (free ride) down the Euclid Corridor to Cleveland Clinic where treatment for frostbite can be obtained. Mr.Masek said "This is fantastic and a good way to boost ridership on my controversial line, it just goes to show you how trully dedicated I am to this city."

Watch 19 Action News tonight at 11 p.m. where Catherine Bosley (clothed) will have all the film highlights.

What an @ss!  That was not funny.  Considering I'm a sarcastic smartass.

Is there any truly compelling reason that this thread needs to exist?

None, just like there is no reason for those morons to exist.

mayday, just kill it.

I was hoping to capture some laugh out loud stupid or funny quotes from the PD (like the one from the Madden video game) but it did not turn out that way

Not to get TOO off-topic, but WKYC.com is beautifully adopting the Cleveland.com attitude.  The comments on there are starting to resemble those of cleveland.com.  I imagine any public forum for the people of Cleveland will most likely get ugly.

Thats because of their marketing partnership.  Those who click on a WKYC article can get it from cleveland.com.  Those morons all deserve to be cast out of cuyahoga county!

This thread is useless and you'll probably regret clicking on it, regardless, I love reading folks' comments at cleveland.com and wanted to start a thread where I could post some of my favorites from time to time.  They fall into many categories... funny, pathetic, ignorant, "not very intelligent"... you get the idea.  Feel free to add some of your own.

Just because you think it doesn't seem safe, doesn't mean there aren't studies that have been done to prove otherwise.

Why would you have a bike lane on a highway bridge? Do you then have to construct bike exit lanes? How would people using this bike lane get on and off the highway? This is crazy.

Our politicians mandate more offerings to Gaia. Who said that there's separation of Church and State? Better make that lane on the outside, with a low barrier so that the State's livestock can jump to their release.

I think the old thread may be awaiting clean-up to conform with the rules about posting articles.

I don't read cleveland.com's forum and those comments above are part of the reason why. I want to have hope for mankind and that forum dashes my hopes every time...

Agreed.  Every time I take a look at the comments one word pops into my head: Diatribe

@KJP, I don't jet to the forums but rather take a look if there are any nuggets of wisdom after I read an article I am interested in.  To go out of my way to read the Cleveland.com forums would ludicrous.

What's next - a box of mutilated puppies and kittens run over by George Bush and Dick Cheney in Wyoming. How stupid he must think Americans are. If only he were raised in America he would know better.

Is there a Presidential Election coming up this year? I am really quite confused because I thought we voted on this in 2008. Did I miss something? Did Congress change the amendment for Presidential Terms to be only 2 years??

Sounds to me that Obama is on the Campaign Trail.

That rockycal6 character is some piece of work.  All his stuff is like that, or worse.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Come marvel at the greatness of Cuyahoga County with this formal invitation to The Cuyahoga County Convention Center.....which is NOW in a crusty, old, abandoned Wal-Mart in an inner ring suburb.

^ I think the Walmart building is almost new, as it the entire development... and Walmart moved out, of what was practically a new building, because they kept having to vacate the store due to unsafe levels of flammable gas.

Everytime I read a story on Cleveland.com I try to stay away from reading the comments but I just can't help myself and I end up reading what the idiots say anyways. I know almost everyone on here agrees about how annoying those comments are. I wish they would make it so you couldn't comment. It would be great to finnaly shut those people up.

Now everyone else can rant if they'd like.

Wow he cant be serious

After they posted that article about what Joakim Noah said about Cleveland on the Plain Dealer I was really surprised at the comments. I would say 75% of them had great things to say about the city and some were really in depth. I ACTUALLY ENJOYED reading the comments!

Just reading an old retail article from 2008

Idiot #1 aka zebra69

good luck in these endeavors but i think more people are going to be thinking about paying heat, cooling , and fuel bills then going downtown to shop . Perhaps enough people may move downtown to support some stores but we for one family will shop on the internet or in westlake where we have everything and less gas and hassle with thugs , parking tickets, parking lots , etc . Good luck though as Cleveland needs something before it falls off the abyss right into oblivion .

Idiot #2 aka darthvador70

I've worked downtown for 20 years, and during that time all retail centers that have opened have declined or gone belly-up eventually. The Galleria...Tower City...The Halle building...The Old Arcade. Cleveland needs to accept the fact that it is a 9-5 city, Monday-Friday. With the exception of bars and restaurants, no one is going to come downtown and deal with the parking issues, young thugs, and homeless people at every turn.

I, for one, can't wait to get out of downtown when my workday is done. Going back downtown for anything outside of work hours seems like going to work. I'd rather be in the suburbs where I can park for free, not worry about getting jumped by a pack of thugs, or hit up for spare change.

                                                                                          (^My Favorite Line)

Awesome person aka redhaze

Vader, Zebra,

You idiots can stay in the suburbs. You've already been there too long anyway, that's why you're so pathetic. Cleveland doesn't want or need yea. Just remember what your saying whenever you come downtown to go to one of the many good restaurants, go to a sporting event, to a play, or show. Cleveland needs the losers who tucked their tales and ran in the "Great White Flight". By the way you can park for free at the RTA stations and take the rapid or bus, you'd save gas if you moved downtown, the property value is strong downtown, there wouldn't be as many "thugs" if people with money moved downtown, the bums well don't give'm anything, you wimps, "Just say No" is it so hard. I mean really what good are you living in the burbs, your boring pathetic life, going to PTA meetings and talking your gossip. Get a life, do something that would be of some help for once. In my opinion you are in the abyss, an abyss of suburban lifestyle where you don't care about anyone else and are completely out of touch with reality.
