September 29, 200816 yr I really love Nick Swardson and Demetri Martin. Both really hilarious comedians. But .. I wouldn't say they're the best of all time. I'd say Dave Chapelle is one of my favorites of all time.
September 29, 200816 yr I don't get into the singing comedians or the ones that bring out charts. I like the vulgar/offensive stuff :)
September 29, 200816 yr I'd actually agree with Mitch Hedburg. The only reason I didn't go with him was because his life was cut so short, but he was incredibly brilliantly hilarious.
September 29, 200816 yr Mitch Hedburg was funny. Mitch Hedburg smoked so much weed he couldn't even remember his jokes. He had to write 'em down and read the notes on stage. LOL why is this sh!t so funny. 66 million views http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwOL4rB-go
September 29, 200816 yr Jalepenos on a stick! No Larry the Cable Guy? "Git'r'done!" That's endless comedy genius. Never gets old, nope.
September 29, 200816 yr Mitch Hedberg is probably my all time favorite, but Kat Williams has had some great stuff lately. One of the funniest comedy intros I've ever seen... beware the language! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRmFEpl74sI&hl=en&fs=1
September 29, 200816 yr Pryor. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 29, 200816 yr Dane Cook and Carlos Mencia shouldnt even be included on that list. Its too close between carlin and dangerfield for me, with eddie murphy not too far behind.
September 29, 200816 yr That is a tough one... The problem that I have is, especially with Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy, once they get out of stand up it really clouds my jusgement of how funny they could be. Loved Carlin though, even his crappy sitcom that he had on FOX back in the early 90's. Can I give a negative vote to Dane Cook? Edit: Add Robin Williams to the above list, too.
September 29, 200816 yr Richard Pryor hands down. But Cosby, LaWanda Page and Red Foxx are hillarious as well. Hell I would even throw in some early Eddie Murphy!
September 29, 200816 yr The kind of damage Dane Cook has done to our culture makes him worse than Mao Zedong and O.A.R O.A.R.'s early music was awesome, that is until they tried getting on MTV and the radio. Everything after the In Between Now and Then cd is pure garbage though.
September 30, 200816 yr "Now I know why they call you Carrot Top - because everyone would love to see you burried up to your head in dirt" - Lisa Lampanelli
September 30, 200816 yr "Now I know why they call you Carrot Top - because everyone would love to see you burried up to your head in dirt" - Lisa Lampanelli Lisa Lampanelli is great. So is Whoopi Goldberg!
September 30, 200816 yr good topic. for classic standup its pryor. however, i would like to throw another form of comedy. literature. for that category i'd say ernest hemingway's autobiography 'a moveable feast.' this classic book is a privilege and an endless pleasure to read again and again, but particularly funny is the chapter 'ford maddox ford and the devil's disciple.' another very howling funny book is famed physicist richard feyman's autobiography, 'surely you're joking mr. feyman?' i think it's really something special when books can make you laugh just as much as entertainers can.
September 30, 200816 yr I don't think Pryor is that funny. I've seen his skits about Prison, the Mafia and some others. I'd consider Eddie Murphy a lot funnier. He does really good impressions; Raw and Delirious are classic.
September 30, 200816 yr ^ Wow! That is a blast from the past. All the cool kids had the talking doll. It would say "what you see is what you get," and "the devil made me do it!," etc.
October 1, 200816 yr I don't think Pryor is that funny. I've seen his skits about Prison, the Mafia and some others. I'd consider Eddie Murphy a lot funnier. He does really good impressions; Raw and Delirious are classic. If there was no Pryor, there'd be no Chappelle, no Murphy, no Rock. Watch his earlier, raunchy stuff. It was classic (along with the underrated Redd Foxx). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 1, 200816 yr My vote's for Henny Youngman. Without him, you'd have no Jack Benny! Actually, I like Steven Lynch. He's all songs, but he makes me laugh harder than 90% of the standup guys.
October 1, 200816 yr ha i know jim gaffigan through a friend. i see him a few times a year at their house parties. "hooot pockets!" i wouldn't say funniest of all time, but cool to see him get a mention.
