Posted October 6, 200816 yr this weekend was open house new york aka ohny weekend. it's an annual event where there are lectures and tours and lots of typically unaccessible places around town are opened up to the public -- a great idea, but unfortunately it fills up fast and many sites are hard to get into to. here is a link: http://www.ohny.org/about/ luckily we got into this one yesterday, it's a home comprised of two combined 1800's carriage houses in the village (it's located on w4th st bet barrow st and 6th avenue): Fairfax & Sammons Residence 183-185 West 4th St/ 7th Ave South, New York "Tours and talks with architect/ owner of two carriage houses which feature a newly restored brick garden terrace, a quarter-sawn American white oak floor, and a redesigned skylight." i dk the build dates of the structures, all i know is 185 on the right was a carriage house in 1899, a garage in 1919 & a studio in 1937. also, that f&s are an architectural firm: http://www.fairfaxandsammons.com/ *** i hope you enjoyed a rare village home tour ***
