Little know though and often assumed to be the "mental asylum" is a small outbuilding above the main hospital. At one time Tuberculosis was so bad in Ohio it became a state mandate for each county to have its own hospital to treat the disease. Athens County had one build near its state hospital in 1924. Today it is abandoned:

I'm going to try and do some photos of the city of Athens too at the request of some users here soon.

Very nice Ronny, looks like you were finally "granted" access! I enjoy these threads a lot (for obvious reasons)!

Nice work. Those are fascinating places, and it looks like they've undergone a lot of changes over the years, before finally being abandoned.

Great work...you do fantastic stuff.

Love Athens.

Creepy cool place

When I was a kid, my folks used to threaten me with a possible stint in the TB hospital if I refused to get checkups at the doctor. Thing was, it was like 1985.

Great work...you do fantastic stuff.

Thanks Rando! And everyone for viewing, gonna try to get into the regular hospital soon. . . Seicer?

That place is awesome.  Freaks the living crap out of me going hiking in and around that area at 4am though.

You know I am up for it.

Just after the fall foilage season :)

I posted a thread with photos of the stain here on Urban Ohio a few years ago but I think the thread is gone.  Those photos appear halfway through this video:

TY, jmecklenborg,

I was starting to wonder if it really existed... Very strange...
