September 26, 200717 yr Did you only go to the nicer parts of Oakland? I was expecting as much of a stark contrast between SF and Oakland as going to the "other side of the tracks" from D/T Wyoming to Lockland. Anyway, beautiful pics.

I was expecting as much of a stark contrast between SF and Oakland as going to the "other side of the tracks" from D/T Wyoming to Lockland. Anyway, beautiful pics. A majority of Oakland *is* "nice." Even the city's fabled east side isn't as bad as you think. And if you want to see "less pleasant" pictures of Oakland, I did a thread called "Berkeley and Oakland" where I hit west and east Oakland for "grit."
