Posted October 14, 200816 yr Hey everyone, I can not sleep. I keep doing this thing where I go to class, come home and crash for 2 hours, then I'm stuck awake all night. So I was going through old photos and backing them up. Came across these, thought you guys might find them interesting. On a cold, dreary December day a coworker and I went flying with his father. Our main goal was to try and photograph some rumored construction going on at Kings Island Amusement Park at the time, but there was nothing. I was able to convince them to let us go over Cincinnati. This is some times particularly tricky due to traffic from Lunken and CVG but we prevailed none the less. So here are some shots from cincy and the surrounding area: Disclaimer: These photographs were taken with my Olympus DSLR, it is a great camera but not the best in low light situations so these pics are kind of crappy and it was a nasty day, so bear with me. I'm going flying again on November 8th with my new camera and hopefully nice weather. -Peter's Cartridge Company, Kings Mills. -The Beach Waterpark, note the people skating. -Coney Island Amusement Park in Cincinnati. -Riverbend -New National City Pavillion under construction -Carew Tower -A Gritcinati landmark. -Folks skating at Fountain Square. -U.S. Bank Arena and serpentine wall. Home of a winning Cincinnati team. -Great American Ballpark home of The Reds. -PBS -Ft. Washington Way -P and G Towers. -Scripps Howard Building. -A nasty Cincinnati day. -Clifton Neighborhoods. -Cincinnati, I love you. Please pray for good weather and flying conditions on November 8th, when I get to go up with a new Canon camera and 200mm lens! October 14, 200816 yr Ive had the same screwed up sleeping habits, but it's because of medical condition. I hope thats not the case with you. Thanks for these. I love that pic of Clifton Heights. Beautiful dense neighborhood. I've never been to the Peter Cartridge Factory - I always wanted to check it out.
October 14, 200816 yr Neat shots! I don't think you need to apologize at all for the quality; they're excellent views, and they're clear with good color saturation.
October 14, 200816 yr I've never been to the Peter Cartridge Factory - I always wanted to check it out. Its right on the Little Miami (Loveland) Bike Trail
October 14, 200816 yr Hey I can see my house!! The pic of the Gateway Garage in OTR really ruins it from the sky.
October 14, 200816 yr Great set. City looks a bit depressing in bad weather, though that's hardly your fault. Spent my freshman year living in that very neighborhood in clifton. Didn't look that great from the ground....
October 14, 200816 yr I agree, I think the Clifton one is my favorite. I love those neighborhoods and from the sky they really look nice. Reminds me of the movie Airborne. Ive had the same screwed up sleeping habits, but it's because of medical condition. I hope thats not the case with you. Thanks for these. I love that pic of Clifton Heights. Beautiful dense neighborhood. I've never been to the Peter Cartridge Factory - I always wanted to check it out. Yeah, I'm hoping to get back on a good sleeping schedule today, be careful if you check out Peter's, it's Private Property with some mean dogs. Wow, water parks get naaasssty after only a few months off, don't they? They sure do: More abandoned water park photos.
October 15, 200816 yr Awesome pics! FWW looks like its choking downtown or something. Hopefully they'll build those caps that i read about on here and make it a little more pleasing to the eye.
October 15, 200816 yr Coney Island shots! YAY! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
October 15, 200816 yr every time i fly out of CVG and get to view OTR from the air, I am reminded just how small the area is, and how critical it is that we save it. these were great shots...no apologies needed for their quality thanks
October 15, 200816 yr Everyone seems to like the OTR and Clifton shots the best, I'll try to recreate those on the next flight, hopefully with better weather and beautiful fall colors.
October 16, 200816 yr Hey I can see my house!! The pic of the Gateway Garage in OTR really ruins it from the sky. I can see my home there as well. :)
October 18, 200816 yr I've never been to Boston but whenever I see aerials of Boston, they look exactly like this!
