Posted October 16, 200816 yr Xavier University I had to shoot some photographs for my employer, so I decided... why not grab some building shots? I had to do a series of "windows," so this naturally fit. Some of these photographs are older; the ones from today are nice but the clouds made it difficult to grab some. 1 Cintas Center 2 Gallagher Student Center 3 Hinkle Hall 4 Inside Hinkle Hall 5 Inside Hinkle Hall 6 Hinkle Hall 7 Kuhlman Residence Hall 8 Kuhlman Residence Hall 9 Kuhlman Residence Hall 10 Lindner Family Physics Building 11 Logan Hall 12 Logan Hall 13 McDonald Memorial Library 14 Schmidt Hall 15 Academic mall 16 17 Enjoy!
October 16, 200816 yr Very nice! The campus landscaping is maintained very well. The Gallagher Center is a huge improvement over the old student center, and it's also in the background of many of my wedding pictures.

October 16, 200816 yr Beautiful shots. It looks like an attractive campus and a pleasant place to work.
October 16, 200816 yr The Academic mall is a huge improvement over what was there apparently. Xavier has spent a lot of money in its appearance -- more so than other schools, and it really shows. Closing Herald Avenue west of Ledgewood to Dana to all vehicles and creating a pedestrian corridor was a great first step for the university -- although that pesky stub still exists near Dana to serve a now-abandoned house (elderly lady held out for many years; she died and its now abandoned). A portion of Ledgewood north of Herald to a Cintas Center access road was also closed in another project, since the area is heavily trafficked by pedestrians. It retains a one-lane brick path that meanders around for utility vehicles. I'm not for sure if more of Herald west of the railroad tracks or if Ledgewood north of Dana will be closed as part of the Hoff Academic Quad project, but it would be nice. They don't really carry that much traffic, and utility vehicles can always be exempted. Speaking of, our utility vehicles have mostly been replaced with small, electric vehicles. They are really nice and should be a model for other universities. I wonder where they charge them up at.

Most of the work was done during the summer, but there were a few weeks during the spring semester when it was completely shut down. It caused inconveniences, but I think it was worth. It is a huge improvement and lots a lot better. That portion of Herald was closed several decades ago. When I started my freshman year in 1994, the portion of Ledgewood Ave that is now the residential mall had only been closed to through traffic for a couple of years. That was also redone while I was a student. It looks very nice now. Closing this street did upset many residents nearby. However, I can't imagine what it must have been like with traffic going through there all the time.
