So I have 1.5 years left of undergrad in Marketing. I beginning to look at Grad Schools because I want to get a Masters of Urban Planning. Does anyone know of any resource where I could look up grad schools in this field, or do any of you have any insight or thoughts on the topic? I'm looking at the east coast/Boston area. Of the area schools I've looked at (I haven't looked that hard yet), I've only seen Boston University Metro College and Harvard with City Planning or Urban Design Masters programs.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

http://planning.org/education/universities/tips.htm for advice on choosing a program (check out the rest of the site too since it's the main planning organization and will help give you a feel for what planners do, what they get paid, current job offerings, etc.)

http://www.planetizen.com/topschools for the annual rankings (this costs money for the full guide, and this is only the 2nd year so the ranking criteria isn't well decided on or refined, so i've been told not to put too much weight on the rankings, though it gives you an idea)

Well I am currently a Masters in Planning student at Cincinnati.  For Ohio, its the best program and one of the best in the Midwest.  Top 20 nationwide.  I enjoy the program, although I have my complaints too.  It is NOT design oriented so if you want design experience, look elsewhere.  At the same time though, you can make the experience design oriented by taking the right studios for electives.  That is what I am doing/have done.

I agree with Atlas, I got my MCP from UC and got a lot out of it, but it is definitely not design oriented if that is your focus.

I'd consider what you really want to do before choosing a school.  "Planning" is a term of art that applies to a specific domain of work.  The actual work Planners (with a capital-P) do may not appeal to you.  If your true interest is different, you might be better off looking into a different type of program.
