Posted October 31, 200816 yr Who wants to go back to the forum software that we had before Wednesday? There have been alot of people having issues with the beta 4 that we can't seem to fix. We would possibly lose all posts made since 8am on Wednesday if we do go back. So who wants to and who doesnt?
October 31, 200816 yr Sign me up to go back. I'm having formatting issues when I have the favorites bar open on the side, and when I try to post anything. But other than that it's great
October 31, 200816 yr It wouldn't be too tough to give it a shot. I will give it a go tonight and see how it goes. So the forum will be offline tonight after 11:30ish pm.
November 1, 200816 yr I am not aware of how SMF updated 2.0b3 to 2.0b4 as I still have 1.1.6... but have you tried reuploading the default template files? It's strange that a lot of the template issues on Urban Ohio don't show up on other sites running the default theme.
November 1, 200816 yr The issue we are still having seems to be only when users are using IE6. I use IE7 and have no issues at all.
November 1, 200816 yr I'll look into this. Losing 3 days of posts is sort of a big deal. I agree. I'm saying may lose 3 days worth of post because I do not know the outcome of the work I'm going to do when I get home. I'm going to try to keep the database as is and just re-upload the beta3 software and see if it will take. If it does not, then we will lose the 3 days worth of posts unless I can do some tweaking of the database.
November 1, 200816 yr That's so weird.... I installed an installation of SMF 2.0b4 on my local machine and I don't have the overflow issue in IE 6, but here I do... I did notice though that the clean installation of the default theme in 2.0b4 that the div that goes under the post heading (the very top area of every post, such as the Re: Go back to the Beta 3 forum software??? and reply time) gets screwed up in IE 6 by being severely padded on the bottom. Also, I notice that the missing hr exists on my clean installation when it does not exist for the between the second last and last post on this site. Strange. Edit... I lied, IE 6 hides the issue until you start typing in the quick reply box. That's so weird.
November 1, 200816 yr It is weird and something we'd rather not deal with yet until the RC releases come out :)
November 1, 200816 yr I wonder if b3 had tables in the default theme, because it doesn't appear that b4 does (as in it uses <div> instead of <table><tr><td>). I wonder if they should know about this issue. You'd think they'd check IE 6, right? Edit: Dead on the Money, the default theme in beta 4 does not use table tags, only div tags. I wonder what would happen if you installed the beta 3 default theme... (I wouldn't overwrite the beta 4 default theme if you did that though.) Also, it looks like 2.0b4 added / altered a lot of tables from b3. Be careful, and back up!
November 1, 200816 yr I read something about them attempting to get away from using tables. So it could be a very good possibility. If you look in the bug section, there are several instances where people have posted having issues with ie6 with some fixes given and applied here. (mainly css issues it seems)
November 1, 200816 yr ^I agree. Are there really that many IE6 users here that are regular posters? I realize there may be more posting from IE6 during the work week/hours - but at home, everyone has there personal machines. Incidentally, I have no problems with mine. Tested on Firefox, Safari, and Opera - granted, not thoroughly.
November 1, 200816 yr I was able to get it back with a little bit of tinkering. There may be a few quirks here and there so please let me know.
November 1, 200816 yr You should have made this a poll. ;D I say do whatever is easiest for the Mods/Admins that ads full functionality for end users. I liked the blacknblack theme and will miss it, but whatever you guys decide, I'll continue to post!
November 1, 200816 yr I've added about 5 or so new themes. I'll try to add the Uo logo's to them in a few days.

November 1, 200816 yr Excellent!!! Love, love, love, the Onyx theme. I hate the blue stuff. I dont like it as much as "blacknblack". Outline * SilentWave are kind of nice. Darkbreak is too much.
November 3, 200816 yr Are there really that many IE6 users here that are regular posters? I realize there may be more posting from IE6 during the work week/hours - but at home, everyone has there personal machines. Incidentally, I have no problems with mine. Tested on Firefox, Safari, and Opera - granted, not thoroughly. Right now there are about 95 members online.....I counted 30 using IE6, so more people use it than we thought. It's before 5pm so that obviously has a hand in the high number.
November 4, 200816 yr I'm currently using IE6 since I'm borrowing one of my boss' extra laptops (mine is sick in the hospital :(), and I haven't seen any issues yet this morning.....
