Posted November 8, 200816 yr Sorry about that first mishap with the red x's... its all better now! Well, this is my first time posting photos, and I am a novice photographer. This is my short tour of Wilmington College on November 6th. It was a beautiful day, but it was after school, so lighting was really tricky. Anyways, I hope you enjoy! My Wilmington, Ohio pictures will be up sometime in the near future. College Hall with the Collage Rock in the foreground. It was donated by the class of 1930 as a class prank and has a plaque that reads something to the same effect as "To the youthful heart in us all" or something like that. Looking out onto Rombach Avenue Denver Hall, named after one of Wilmington's most prided citizens General James Denver, the namesake of Denver, Colorado. He graduated from UC and is buried in Sugargrove Cemetary in Wilmington. The back of Denver Hall Quirky gazebo with frat houses in the back Pyle Center... student union/services/dining hall I believe More of Pyle One of the older residential buildings Nice tree lined pathway Sherman Court... the Clinton County YMCA is attached on the other side. More of Sherman Court The paradoxical Fighting Quakers gearing up for an OAC battle none the less. I think they tried to change the name to the "Earthquakers" and go by the "Quakes", but all the Quakers in the community got angry at them trying to change tradition. Robinson Communications Building The Science and Ag building. This is the Quaker Meeting house where John McCain visited. Boyd Auditorium and Cultural Arts Center There are green adirondack chairs all over campus... everywhere... about as prevalent as the squirrels The Bell Tower The Wilmington College Library Thanks for checking these out! Like I said before... an in depth tour of Wilmington, Ohio will follow... I just havent had the time to fix the coloring on and resize some of the pics.
November 8, 200816 yr Nice job, beautiful fall pics. That's an interesting bell tower, very non-traditional but I like it. Re name change for the team, funny that Quakers should get angry. Maybe they need a refresher course.
November 8, 200816 yr Maybe I shouldnt have said angry... disappointed... offended... passively steamed? hahaha! I should let you know, the Quakers that settled Clinton County were unconventional and a little more liberal than others. You will see that when I post the Wilmington city pictures... their meeting house is unlike other Quaker meeting houses. I remember hearing that WC's bell tower was somehow significant... I forget the reasoning though...
November 10, 200816 yr Those green adirondack chairs look great. They extremely comfortable and would seem to make for a great spot to just chill out and take in the campus or read a book.
