Well this doesn't really qualify as Restaurants or Entertainment, but I thought it was the best forum fit.  Where is a good place to get a good men's haircut. I'd like to stay under $30 bucks if I can. I live downtown but will head out to the burbs for one. I am a young guy so I am usually more into a stylist that knows how to use a pair of scissors rather than a barber or chain chop shop that just uses a razor and treats your head like a piece of meat, ha ha.

I know how you feel. My guy friends are flabbergasted when I tell them how much I pay. They all go to SuperCuts.

 

Is Dino Palmieri still open in the Warehouse District?

I go to a guy in the Rockefeller bldg in the Whse District. He does a great job thats why I go...honest ( its not because he keeps Playboys for perusal )

My former Sunday school teacher runs a high-class gig in Willoughby, and I know several men and women who think she does an amazing job.

Personally, I go to a barber. I don't let anyone under 60 cut my hair. And I'll never go to anyone who calls himself a stylist. Or pay more than $20. That's just me.

Fast Eddy's Chop Shop on Coventry is well-liked by a lot of my guy friends.

I'm a bit schizo when it comes to my hair - sometimes I'm in the mood for a barber cut and shave, other times I want the salon treatment.  The two places I frequent are on the west side, but not a ridiculous distance from downtown.

 

First, the barber - Sean Gormley, (The Irish Barber) on Center Ridge in Rocky River - traditional barber shop, straight razor, and hot shaving cream kind of place, always busy.

 

Second, the salon - The Reagle Beagle, on Detroit Ave in western Lakewood - it's a salon with bar and flat screen TV's, where you can sip a Guinness or whatever, get a haircut and chair massage, and not spend a ridiculous amount of money. (216) 228-9677  www.reaglebeagle.net

 

On the HealthLine, there's La Barberia di Laura near the Euclid/Mayfield intersection - more salon than barber shop despite the name.  www.labarberiainc.com

You walk into that place, and its automatically 1957. It's a trip for sure.

I love the Barber College. My office used to look out over it...I loved watching the fist fights and tom foolery.  I have no idea where they get those guys from. I like the head teacher too. Could be a Munster. I actually got a few good hair cuts there,  but then the girl that did a good job graduated. I tried to find her but could not.

Marino's on Euclid, across from CSU.  It is a barbershop.  Both guys (father and son) do an excellent job.  They also do shoe shines, shaves, and the like.  Next door is Cousin's Cigars- one of the best tobacconists in Greater Cleveland.  I recommend the whole shebang for a manly Saturday afternoon.

Downtown I'd recommend Nesi (Professional Hair Designers 241-1244) on Chester, between 9th and 12th.  Excellent, very professional.

Ecclipse Hair in eastgate in mayfield heights.  You said you would go to the burbs...so here it is...best hair stylist in town, he travels to chicago, toronto, NYC to give seminars...his shop looks like it from Europe.  You dont have to get too fancy and it wont be $30.00 just call and make an appointment.

This place is worth trying - the house special, complete with head and neck massage, is worth it.  Not to metion the free beer and TV in front of you.

Zen Spa just opened up in their new space on W25th across from Garage Bar.  A well done space for sure, and attractive female employees.

ha ha I don't know about the Regale Beagle, I was just at their website. I can't trust a chick that has a razor on one hand and a beer in another!

Where is a good barber in cleveland?

I like Mel's Barbershop over in Kamm's Corners. Like 158th and Lorain, near the library.

Tried this guy the other day and was happy with the cut. I think it's the Colonial Marketplace Arcade, though.

I would second Zen. I'm not a fan of Marino's. I used to go while I was in grad school at CSU because it was convenient, but they seem to do one cut for everyone (i.e. short and square), and it wasn't particularly flattering on me.

ahh. men's hair. the one place where its easy to catch a bargain in nyc. i pay $4 at a barber school. but then again i only need a #1 clipper cut all over, so why pay a lot?

 

generally i prefer brothers to cut my hair, they know this kind of cut w/o me having to explain a thing....i hate having to sing a song to the other borat-type barbers where they look at you crazy if you don't want to keep a big head of macho hair.  :laugh:

Actually, apparantly they never had a full license and were working off a "tasting license", but got  reprimanded by the city.
