Cute town!

Nice! When were u in Maysville?

^Formerly derelict but active houses, slowly being restored.

^Former school, neglected then restored.

You went to Maysville but didn't check out the super spooky ( :P ) Hayswood Hospital?

Nice shots. The rowhouse in the second picture includes a nice bed & breakfast that my wife and I stayed at a year & a half ago. Looks like all the units are renovated now (I believe seven of eight were done when I was there).

Thank you for sharing Maysville with everyone here.  An amazing wealth for such a small town.  The real estate is ridiculously cheap too!

Very nice! How far is Maysville from Cincinnati?

^You can drive it in just over an hour.

^And the three different routes to get there are all quite nice....especially on a crisp fall day with the top down!

Taking the AA Highway (Rt 9) through KY is four lane, but has some nice scenery.  This is the quickest route, but the least likeable path.

Taking KY Rt 8 along the river is my favorite.  You can stop in and check out Augusta KY on the way.  You get to see all of the river industry, and dance with the railroad for most of the way.

Taking Ohio Rt 52 is enjoyable as well.  You can visit New Richmond, and drive right through Ripley.  You can also stop and see the Meldahl lock and dam.

My favorite is to ride down one side of the river, and take the other back.  Or, even do a combo where I ride down say Ohio Rt 52, and take the Augusta ferry across the river and finish the ride to Maysville on KY Rt 8 and then reverse it for the trip home.

The only reason to take the AA highway would be if you were pressed for time, as the riverside routes are just beautiful.

I agree! I bought my house on the east end for a little over 14K. Its a small 2 bedroom but has plenty of room for me since I live alone. There are several historic buildings for sale downtown at reasonable prices also. Most have pretty nice apartments/lofts above them but the biggest problem would be finding tenants to fill the retail space. The partially remodeled house on the left below sold just a few months ago for 7K.

Also this building was recently occupied by some kind of software firm but the owner wanted something different so now it will be sold or auctioned off. I read in the Ledger a while back that someone out of Louisville, I believe, was interested and was waiting to get an estimate back to see how much it would cost to be renovated.

Next time anybody comes to Maysville let me know and we'll go bar hoppin!

Maysville is looking very good. It seems to me I saw photos a few years ago that didn't look so good as it does now. Good news.

Looks like a great place...and they've got two fantastic bridges from the looks of it.

I'll give Toledo to Michigan if Ohio can have Maysville, Huntington, and Wheeling.

I would tend to agree, but that might have swung Ohio the other way in the past election.  So Toledo's liberal leanings make up for their sub-par offerings elsewhere.  :-D

^Isn't that the truth. lol

Anyway, Maysville is very cute!  Thanks, ink!

I think trading Toledo for Maysville ALONE would be more than a fair trade for Ohio... great shots

Beautiful shots!
