Since there is a lifestyle center thread, I thought I'd start a thread on the other new retail concept that parallels the lifestyle center: the power center.

Power centers are a collection of big box retail stores in close geographic proximity. Are there any in Ohio?  I do know of one that seems to have happened by accident up at the former Salem Mall site, but it doesnt qualify as a purpose-built power center.

I think the Crossings down in South Lebanon was originally planned as partly a power center.

StoneCreek in Colerain Township (suburb of Cincinnati) is considered a power center.  JcPenney's, Mejier, Old Navy and others make up the center.  I suppose Center of Cincinnati off I-71 at Ridge would be one too.

The shopping centers surrounding the Fairfield Commons mall resemble power centers.  They include Kohls, Lowes, LA Fitness, Circuit City, and more.  Also, the Voice of America shopping center seems to fit that description.  I guess those can qualify as power centers in southwest Ohio.

Power centers were basically the retail fad concept prior to lifestyle centers.  Presumably, in a similar way, lifestyle centers will end up obsoleted by the next gen retail concept.
