Posted November 17, 200816 yr Well, I haven't posted in a long time, but thought I needed to get a few of these pictures up on Urbanohio. Now, I'm sure most of you know about the University Hospitals construction, but here is some of the other good stuff going on in UC and Midtown that you may not know about: The new Juvenile Justice Center. This is a very large construction project. It is probably the biggest thing going on in Cleveland right now, visible from Little Italy, and in my opinion, bigger than the Heart Center at Cleveland Clinic. FYI, this is only the front of the project, the final product will be a dome shaped building: The new parking garage at the Cleveland Clinic, now finished and open to the public. I believe it's the biggest parking garage in Ohio, that not necessarily being a good thing: 11-15-08, the construction never ends at the Clinic: Now the second crane has been raised at UH: Euclid Avenue's newest resident: Wade Park and 105th, nicely built: VA now under construction too: Chester 82, the same guys behind Battery Park. Update: THIS PROJECT IS STILL ON! New opportunity on Carnegie. Too bad people don't scoop these lots up like they do in Solon and Strongsville's industrial parkways: Carnegie and E. 82nd, this is something big, I hope, right across from MOCA and behind the new drugstore on Euclid: Payne and 55th, will this one happen? Does anyone even care? This is a blighted area that has become a true nomansland, but good LORD, this is a great looking church compared to the rubbish churches that have been built in Cleveland in the last 20 years. Let's go back to the days of quality cathedrals: Baker Motor Building, nothing new, but still under renovation: A better idea of how big the Juve center will ultimately be: Juve: Rear view of the new Speech & Hearing: An amazing picture on my camera.. a preview of Circle 116: Well, I am working on posting a part 2 of the Quadrangle and Midtown west, but the snow needs to melt first.

November 17, 200816 yr Keep those cranes coming!! I was walking to Falafel Cafe for lunch with some friends on Friday, and we decided we wanted to see a battle between the two UH Cancer Center tower cranes :-D
November 17, 200816 yr I was on the Red Line a few weeks ago and saw the new Juve Center construction; wasn't sure what it was at the time. Love seeing all the projects going up on that side of town.
November 17, 200816 yr What is the new thing on Euclid? It kind of looks like a parking garage, but I'm guessing it isn't. The Juve Center looks nice...gotta love government building projects.
November 17, 200816 yr ^are you talking about the Hearing & Speech Center? FYI, Circle 116 is actually Circle 118 (http://www.circle118.com/) DocBroc... I had the same conversation about the Crane Battle with a co-worker the other day! Funny stuff...
November 17, 200816 yr thx for showing the new juvenile justice center going up. i've been very curious about it as its my line of work. i'll have to tour it sometime. here in nyc we have three of those centers for secure detention, two of which are newish & were built in the late 90's and one of which is the original and is very old. however, they are residential only, the family court is not attached, which i can see already makes this one a much more impressive looking structure. btw i've actually had kids from the cuyahoga detention center out here on occasion. in fact, it seems like we have gotten more kids from there than anywhere else, except nj. usually they are runaways, but i remember one kid who escaped from the cuyahoga detention center!!! usually eventually they are sent back. never a dull moment!

November 18, 200816 yr FYI, Circle 116 is actually Circle 118 (http://www.circle118.com/) very cool to see something colorful & funky like that going up there.
November 23, 200816 yr That should look much better once it's complete. Unless this is some sort of neo-brutalism. It's making a comeback you know! It's close to a campus too!
