Couldn't find an existing thread for this type of thing, but please merge if I missed a good fit.

The New York Times had a nice little write up about this cool Cleveland design company that makes mod metal furniture:  http://22ndcenturycompositions.com/about.html

Some really cool stuff in their portfolio.  Would be cool if they shared a showroom with APOC for one-stop Cleveland awesomeness shopping.

WOW! That stuff is very cool!

It is. Looks like they don't sell stuff in Cleveland, though?

Recycling business cashes in on used gift cards

Posted by Sarah Hollander/Plain Dealer Reporter November 17, 2008 16:28PM

GREEN INC.

A monthly look at companies embracing sustainability

Rodd Gilbert wants gift cards to keep giving.

With the holidays approaching, millions of the familiar plastic cards are heading for the hands of happy consumers. The thought of those cards, once spent, filling landfills inspired the Solon man to develop a new recycling method.

Gilbert's company, Earthworks System LLC, collects polyvinyl chloride scrap left over from the card manufacturing process, discontinued stock, cancelled jobs, rejects and spent cards. Card manufacturers and distributors donate most of the PVC, with retailers and individuals supplying the rest.

A company after my own heart. I'm Verklempted.  I think I've seen there stuff in NYC. I know I've seen that wheel chair loveseat before!

For the life of me I can't remember the show I think they were on with others who dumpster dived and made stuff out of trash.

Wow, that 22nd Century stuff is pretty amazing!

EDIT: by the way, here's the link to Cleveland Art.

These guys should be talking to the District of Design people, like, yesterday.

Saw this thread and thought this was worth mentioning.  If you've been around Cleveland and seen these shirts, now you know where they came from.  Just got 4 the other day...

Two of my friends from high school own CLE Clothing.  They recently just sold their 20,000th shirt!

CLE Clothing is awesome.  A couple of other local clothing stores that make similar types of t-shirts, but their names escape me at the moment.

Congrats to Objeti, a Willoughby-based furniture maker for being named co-best new designer at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair!

A nice write-up about Objeti on Cleveland.com today:

This guy is like the design district dream for NEO.  Hope he can scale up production locally.

The first company that comes to mind when I think of cool Cleveland businesses is Great Lakes Brewing Co.  Love their place and their beer.

"Burning River" is a nice, new twist on CLE's reputation.
