April 22, 200916 yr Some people have way too much time on their hands. including some of us right now! lol
July 21, 201014 yr With my new job, I transferred my cell over to my employer, and they don't allow texting (cost of providing the service, and more importantly, cost of archiving). So I don't text anymore. If I have to, I have to go the email route (ie ##########@vtext.com). I went back through this thread and saw the few posts discussing the validity of Twitter. My own impression has changed a little bit, as I've started to see the benefit of subscribing to certain people's accounts for news / informational purposes (like Windhorst of PD). I still don't see a reason why I'd use it for my own purposes.
July 21, 201014 yr You know what, I have sent 1 text in my life, and that was back in 2008. I actually do not have it on my phone, and my wife only has a prepaid cell phone that can be used in emergencies. She stays home with our kids, so I can ussually get her on the land line if I need to talk to her. I just do not enjoy being that easily reachable.

July 21, 201014 yr It took me a while to get used to texting, but I think I'm finally starting to get hooked. It's just so much more convenient when I'm on the bus or sitting in a really dull class.
July 21, 201014 yr Now that my nephew lives with me. I text more. He MMS like nobody's business, but I guess it's a teenage thing. I swear that iPhone is attached to his hand. One thing that annoyed me was when he was in the TV room and I was in my bedroom he sent me a text message. I told him don't ever do that, or call me on the phone, while he is in the house ever again. That is just complete laziness!
July 21, 201014 yr ^ i've had the wife do that. it is really lazy and I told her off, but being married I still did what was asked.

But one thing I do love is voice notes. Now that my nephew showed me those, I send those often. LOL

What are those and how do you send them, also I only have the 3g so may not be compatible. But d@mnit I want to freak out the wife with this it sounds entertaining.
July 21, 201014 yr I will text because if I'm on the street or somewhere I usually can't hear the other person over the background noise... especially the girlfriend, who's quite the low talker and has a super heavy accent on top of that. Or if I'm on the subway, or at work, etc. it's a bit rude to be having a conversation on the phone. What I won’t do is get the internet on my phone. I really don’t want to read my email any more than I have to.

On the iphone it's called voice memo. on the BB voice notes. heres how to do it on the iphone I find it more convienient when in a really hurry instead of typing.

July 22, 201014 yr I like to make voice notes, send them to my wife's phone, and then f@#$ with her ringtones. Right now I have me singing in falsetto that she has a text message. Best part is she can't figure out how to fix it, and she's powerless to stop me. That should reduce the monthly text bill.

Voicenotes is where its at! I can't believe more people don't use them.
July 30, 201014 yr I text quite a bit, especially now that I got an Android phone with a full slide out qwerty keyboard. The keys are a good size too. My sister and I introduced my mom to texting and now that's all she does nonstop now. My dad however, he is still figuring out how to use his 5 year old camera phone.
