Posted December 2, 200816 yr Took some random photos in the Cleveland area this past weekend: Taken from the Abbey Rd bridge over the tracks, through a fence. HDR's from the Rockefeller Avenue Bridge (EDIT : Corrected) Battery Park From the State Park (E72nd exit) A Christmas Story House
December 2, 200816 yr Once again - fantastic images! "HDR's from the Jefferson Rd Bridge" Is this just east of West 3rd? clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
December 2, 200816 yr It's on the other side of the river from W3rd. Right by Broadway and Rockefeller (which is closed) try this. December 2, 200816 yr ^Ah, gotcha - I always loved that view when I commuted from Hudson (bypassed the traffic on 77 via East 49th and went right by that spot). clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
December 2, 200816 yr I love the second and third. Bordering on Gothic. Cleveland Goth shots are among my favorites. November, shot from the south, is the best time to get them. I don't actually take pictures when I see this, but it always takes my breath away if I am approaching Cleveland from the south and the light is just right. This look is so dark and forboding it is to the point of disturbing (just my style)
December 2, 200816 yr That third shot...wowzers. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
December 2, 200816 yr Where exactly is that third shot. I've live in Cleveland 42 years and do not know where that shot was taken. Amazing pictures.
December 2, 200816 yr OMG! Amazing fails to describe how incredible your photos are. I love the 2nd and 3rd photos.
December 2, 200816 yr Where exactly is that third shot. I've live in Cleveland 42 years and do not know where that shot was taken. Amazing pictures. Thanks. The 2nd and 3rd are from the Rockefeller Avenue bridge. See the link I posted above. I had never been there until a few weeks ago, and it's an interesting view. If you go there, bring a milk crate because the wall is about 6 ft high and you won't be able to see over it well.
December 3, 200816 yr Great pics!! Anyone know what the former land use was in regards to that patch of barren land in the third pic?
December 3, 200816 yr Lol - They still have the leg lamp in the window. "You'll shoot your eye out with that thing, kid!"
December 3, 200816 yr Excellent shots! I loved that movie. When I was a kid, our family car was just like the one in the movie, and we lived in an old house with a cantankerous coal furnace that only Dad was allowed to touch. Only things missing from my childhood were the neighbor's pack of dogs and the leg lamp. Oh. And I never froze my tongue to a pole, either, but the snowsuit sure brought back memories.
December 3, 200816 yr Great pics!! Anyone know what the former land use was in regards to that patch of barren land in the third pic? Thanks! I was wondering the same thing myself. Obviously tracks were there, but they aren't now. Did they scrap the rails? I might try to "go down there" at some point to look around.

Is it contaminated right now?

Those are the remaining tracks at the southeast end of the former Norfolk Southern Corp. intermodal terminal, which was moved to Maple Heights (just south of I-480) so NS could expand its operations. And are you sure that photo was taken from taken from Jefferson Street? I thought that view was possible only from Independence Road at the top of the hill next to Broadway Road. Jefferson is about a half-mile south and down in the valley. It once crossed the river on a lift bridge from Tremont to the north end of the steel mills. By the way, these pictures are fantastic! You have a remarkable talent. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
December 3, 200816 yr Can someone tell me why alot the pictures in some of these threads are blank icons with red "x"'s through them? I want to see these pictures, but i cant always see them.

And are you sure that photo was taken from taken from Jefferson Street? Thanks for the info. Opps! I meant to say that Rockefeller Avenue Bridge. The link above is the google map of the location. I had it right the post with the thread. I will fix my original. Sorry. here is a link I found about that bridge: http://www.historicbridges.org/ohio/rockefeller/index.htm
December 3, 200816 yr Can someone tell me why alot the pictures in some of these threads are blank icons with red "x"'s through them? I want to see these pictures, but i cant always see them. I'm guessing if "some" are X's then it's a computer problem. (Low memory, HD Space, Slow internet provider.....) If all were X's, then possibly an IE setting. Have you tried Firefox also?
December 4, 200816 yr Great shots, when is that scaffolding coming off the Terminal Tower? Its an on going project. 2010
December 4, 200816 yr One word, wow! Can someone tell me why alot the pictures in some of these threads are blank icons with red "x"'s through them? I want to see these pictures, but i cant always see them. Try cleaning your temporary internet files. This is a common problem (assuming you’re using IE).
December 5, 200816 yr I believe that more and more of the scaffolding has been coming off recently. Hopefully soon.... been working on that for a while. How long did it take to build the tower? ;)
January 23, 200916 yr The second shot is incredible. Lighting and the contrast of the city to the brush--great shot!
