December 24, 201014 yr The Lincoln Tower, at 116 East Berry Street in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana, was completed in 1930 as headquarters for Lincoln National Bank and Trust. The Art Deco tower stands 312 feet/95 meters tall and is decorated with plaques representing aspects of Abraham Lincoln's Indiana boyhood. Prominent Fort Wayne architect Alvin M. Strauss collaborated with Cleveland firm Walker and Weeks to design the tower. The general contractor was Buesching and Hagerman. In my earliest memories of the Lincoln Tower, red candelabra decorated all the windows during the Holiday Season just as they do now. In 1946 and 1947 we lived on Fletcher Avenue just off Maumee Avenue, more than a mile east of downtown. From our back yard at night we could hear traditional Christmas music that was played on an electronic organ in the tower and broadcast from large speakers on the parapet. The alternating white and red beams from the beacon atop the tower could be seen from great distances as they swept across the night sky. December 25, 201014 yr God I love watching my nephews faces light up when they open the gifts. I didn't even realize I got one of them a Nerf Gun with a LASER POINTER. He's shooting me directly in the face with precision accuracy! If it weren't xmas, he'd be in time out right now lol

I'll throw it at trespassers. "Darn kids, git outta my yard!" Then, I'll gather it all up and put it by the fireplace along with what I got this year, to build a big smoky fire next Christmas eve and keep that fat elf outta my chimney. Track soot all over my house, will you? Not any more, by golly!

December 25, 201014 yr I feel like I need to binge and purge. I've eaten so much in the past two days! And this hangover just wont go away. I think Christmas is becoming boring at our house again. The kids aren't little kids anymore, so opening gifts isn't the same. My youngest nephew is the only one who gave us the "A HA" moment. I hate that they are growing up! :'( :'( :'( And I cannot believe some parents would buy their kids brand new cars? :wtf:

December 28, 201014 yr Happy Holidays everyone. Love all of your Holiday cards Rob... My house looks like Toys r' Us threw up all over it. We finally were home long enough yesterday to gain some semblance of order. As far as the gluttony goes. I was at the 5th holiday gathering/dinner in 4 days last night and actually got excited to see a huge bowl of Caesar salad. I ate 2 plates of it and skipped the usual suspects (pizza, etc..) Is anybody else on here Italian and do the Feast of the Seven Fish on Christmas Eve? It's one of my favorite meals of the year..This year we had 2 kinds of shrimp, broiled scallops, grilled tuna steaks, salmon, fried smelts, calamari and linguine with white clam sauce. I think I am forgetting something too. Two words. Yum-My.
