This is different from the "Favorite Music at the Moment" thread.  This is where you compile your soundtrack to 2008.  And as any good mix CD maker knows, you gotta list the artist's name, the name of the song, and if you can, the name of the album.  You can order and list them any way you like; I opted not to order the tracks by date, and instead went with what I think would make for a really good mix:

1. White Winter Hymnal - Fleet Foxes / Fleet Foxes

2. Skinny Love - Bon Iver / For Emma, Forever Ago

3. Germs - Yeasayer / All Hours Cymbals

4. Kim & Jessie - M83 / Saturdays=Youth

5. Time Will - Hercules and Love Affair / Hercules and Love Affair

6. Bodysnatchers - Radiohead / In Rainbows

7. Dumb Animals - Handsome Furs / Plague Park

8. Shuffle Your Feet - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club / Howl

9. Electric Feel - MGMT / Oracular Spectacular

10. Oxford Comma - Vampire Weekend / Vampire Weekend

11. Pot Kettle Black - Tilly and the Wall / O

12. I Will Posess Your Heart - Death Cab for Cutie / Narrow Stairs

13. Lenders in the Temple - Conor Oberst / Conor Oberst

14. Sentimental Heart - She & Him / Volume One

15. Fix It - Ryan Adams & the Cardinals / Cardinology

16. Is There a Ghost? - Band of Horses / Cease to Begin

17. White Tooth Man - Iron & Wine / The Shepherd's Dog

18. A&E - Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree

19. Paper Planes - M.I.A. / Kala

Wow! Good taste, Moonlight!

I have not listed my tracks in any particular order, either:

1 ) Mr. Tough - Yo La Tengo / I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass

2 ) Chicago - Sufjan Stevens / Illinois

3 ) House of Cards - Radiohead / In Rainbows

4 ) Casimir Pulaski Day - Sufjan Stevens / Illinois

5 ) E-Pro - Beck / Guero

6 ) Shadowfeet - Brooke Fraser / Albertine

7 ) Heavy Metal - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

8 ) Death of an Interior Decorator - Death Cab for Cutie / Transatlanticism

9 ) Los Angeles, I'm Yours - The Decemberists / Her Majesty the Decemberists

10 ) Waltz #2 - Elliott Smith / XO

11 ) I Feel It All - Feist / The Reminder

12 ) Decent Days and Nights - The Futureheads

13 ) Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash

14 ) Requiem for OMM 2 - Of Montreal / The Sunlandic Twins

15 ) Desire - Phil Wickham / Cannons

16 ) Tired of Sex - Weezer / Pinkerton

17 ) Cut Your Hair - Pavement / Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain

18 ) Holland, 1945 - Neutral Milk Hotel / In the Aeroplane

19 ) Makes Me Wonder - Maroon 5 / It Won't Be Soon Before Long

20 ) Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt 1 - The Flaming Lips / Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots

16 ) Tired of Sex - Weezer / Pinkerton

Are weezer fans asexual? Who would listen to a song called "Tired of sex"? The concept doesn't even make sense to me.

Are weezer fans asexual?

This one isn't. :)

11 ) I Feel It All - Feist / The Reminder

I forgot Feist!

11 ) I Feel It All - Feist / The Reminder

I forgot Feist!

Feist makes me melt from happiness overload.

Looking over my "soundtrack" list, I'm realizing I seriously need to buy some new music.

The video for "I Feel it All" makes me melt from happiness overload.  I was feeling the same way about my music library last night, actually and downloaded, uh, I mean bought some new stuff.  I haven't had time to listen to much, but from memory, I've got new stuff by Air France, the new TV on the Radio album, the last two Lindstrøm albums, Grouper's album, Dj/rupture's new album, the new The Tallest Man on Earth album, the new Mae Shi album, and a bunch of Gang Gang Dance (I had their God's Money album, but I can't find it), all waiting for me when I come home.

The video for "I Feel it All" makes me melt from happiness overload.

I feel the same way about the "1-2-3-4" video. I know the iPod commercials pretty much killed it, but I still love it.

I would also like to add "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt 1" by the Flaming Lips to my list.

3. Anything by Ken Andrews and Failure. I somehow overlooked this incredible band until this year. I've been blown away ever since. They might even replace Hum as my favorite space rock band. And their "Enjoy the Silence" cover blows the original by Depeche Mode out of the water.

Unpossible.  It's been scientifically proven that no band's cover of a Depeche Mode original can be superior in any way.

It's about a string of unfulfiilling hook-ups. It's certainly Weezer's darkest song. The production on that track is gritty as hell. And that explosive ending...brilliant. I think Pinkerton was a genius concept. They unfortunately never made music like that again. :| Pinkerton was considered a commercial failure, but it didn't deserve to be. A lot of Weezer's best work is on that album- "Tired of Sex," "No Other One," "El Scorcho," "Pink Triangle," etc.

I totally agree. Pinkerton is an incredible album, and together with their Blue Album, it's their best work. Nothing they've put out since either of those two albums even comes close. I miss those days.

^Seriously, listen to it. Even Depeche Mode reportedly admitted it might be better than theirs!

From wikipedia (who knows if it's true):

The members of Depeche Mode were reportedly very pleased with the album, and with the Failure track particularly; Andrew Fletcher said that he actually prefers their cover over his band's original version.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Failure_(band)

That just proves that Andrew Fletcher knows not what he speaks, and that Dave Gahan is the one true mastermind behind Depeche Mode.  I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but teams of highly trained specialists have worked for years, proving the awesomeness of the Mode.  You can't stand in the way of science, dude.

totally out of touch since I dont listen as much as I used to.

Best live band Ive heard was at the end of the year and just the end of their set:

Jasper the Colossal

(usually just catch locals doing weekend gigs)

From whats listed:

12. I Will Posess Your Heart - Death Cab for Cutie / Narrow Stairs

Yeah, one of the better ones.  The CD version with that long intro was good.  But I also liked the wildfire song...these guys have had to have spent time in Califas to have written that one.

From whats not listed:  Calexico (Two Silver Trees)(and pretty much the whole album)

^I'm generally not a Death Cab fan, but the new album is decent. I really love that "Cath" song that's all over the radio right now.

I'm more of a fan of their earlier-ish stuff. "Transatlanticism" is my favorite. And yes, I'm one of those people who gets angry when a band goes too mainstream. :)

Jpop, excellent taste. Jdging from the rest of your list I will be definately checking out the songs that I didn't know.

Too bad about Weezer I remember buying the Pinkerton CD my first year of college and playing it non-stop and how excited I was when the green album came out after the hiatus. now it's just eh another weezer album, great. move on. Tired Of Sex is agood song but I think my favorite would be "Across the Sea" or "The Good Life"

My soundtrack of 2008 was lots of The Hold Steady - Stay Positive, Vampire Weekend, In Rainbows,

Thanks!! I reaaaaaally love music. But unfortunately, I haven't really bought any new stuff in a while. I need to.

I think El Scorcho is still my favorite. I agree about Weezer, though. I think they should've just stopped while they were ahead. They were kinda one of those bands that should've just stayed frozen in time. Because now they're tarnished, in my opinion. :(

I forgot the Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night.. One of the best albums of 2008.

I used to try and keep up with music but really it has been so hard lately with all that i have going on. I have been going on kicks where I will get on mini-obsession with a band and listen to their whole catalogue, like Old U2, Steely Dan, REM

I'm with you. I'm on a major, major Radiohead kick right now.

It all went to hell when they lost Matt Sharp's falsettos.

It really did. Their new Red Album has some interesting moments. But it's all a weird mish-mash. Oh, well. Tear. :)

Tear. Soooo Emo.

Tear. Soooo Emo.

Hey, I've moved on to indie rock, sucka! :)

I listened to Pinkerton again last night and I think that C-dawg already said it, but what really seperates that album from all of the Emo crap (and the good Emo stuff) that it supposedly spawn is how F'd up and dark the song actually are. A song about a 15 YO Japanese fan? Now that is pretty twisted. A heartfelt serious song about he girl he is in love with is a lesbian? Pretty depressing....

And to keep this from becoming the Official UO Weezer thread, I forgot to include Wilco. Ryan Adams/Whiskeytown and My Morning Jacket on my 2008 Soundtrack. I listen to them all of the time so I guess I just took them for granted. Lots of the Dave Matthews - Some Devil album mostly because my kids love Gravedigger.

Is it bad that that's my favorite Weezer song?

Oh, and she's 18.

I really love that song, too. I think the fact that it opens with broken English is brilliant. :)

He is only saying she is 18 she is really 15. :-o

Hello dateline NBC!

Nope.

"You are .. 18 year old girl, who live in small city of Japan .. you heard meeee on the radio, about one year ago and you wanted to know, all about meeee, and my hobbies .. my favorite food and my birthday .."
