Very stately, and probably the only reason I'd visit SC. Myrtle Beach? Yuck. Not when there's this.

Charleston is such a beautiful city. I'm surprised it doesn't get much recognition for that. It looks so classy. I heard their zoning regulations are insane though.

It is a beautiful city, wish I could of gotten some shots of the amazing homes, but it got too dark for picture taking.

Few things...

 

[*]Charleston as a city is not a beautiful place.  The downtown is amazing and beautiful, but the rest of the city is ugly as sin.

[*]Charleston beeches > Savannah beeches

Greenville, SC is also quite cute and worth an afternoon or possibly even a full day of your time.  I've also heard that the University of South Carolina in Columbia is quite beautiful although I have never been there myself.

i graduated from the college of charleston which is located in the heart of downtown which is one giant historic district with strict codes on just about everything. the board of architectural review (BAR) rules SUPREME!!!! the regulations kill alot of development downtown so greater charleston is nothing but sprawllllll.

agreed! and for such a small city, the traffic can get god awful in the suburbanized areas of charleston (west ashley/james island). when i lived in west ashley, the 6 mile commute to downtown could take 45 minutes in the morning!
