And there you have it…christmas ’08 in London…sorted!

I Love London. I haven't been there since 1990 =-0(

Very beautiful!

The snowman ballons in the Carnaby Street photos remind me of sculptures by Tom Otterness.

Awesome! London is so cool.

Im flying from Glasgow to London tomorrow morning, cant wait!!

Beautiful.  London really tarts itself up for the holidays.

Yes, they seem to do Christmas up right...  very creative and unique..

I took a Christmastime trip to NYC and in comparison was rather disappointing.

Geez...you couldn't get one of Harvey Nic's, but you could take one of Harrods's?  Ugh.

Nice pics.  lol

Well done.

So much Christmas spirit

London's so boring.  I wish it were more like Sandusky.

You should be stoned!

thx everyone. it was bloody cold walking around, but it was fun. hang on -- i got a couple more threads out of the trip in the works.

me too -- we thought otterness immediately when we walked around the corner and saw them!

here's a blurb i found about them by the artist:

Paul Dart, designer from James Glancy Designs, created this year's Carnaby Christmas Decorations.

Paul says, "The inspiration for this year's decorations came from the childhood fantasy of a white Christmas and the delight in creating snowmen from the first fall of snow.

"By filling Carnaby with thousands of snowflakes I want to remind people of the magic and excitement of snow falling and demonstrate how dramatically snow can change our day-to-day experience of our surroundings."

i'd say ny does shop windows better and london strings up lights better.*

*that is, if you don't count american-style residential holiday lights craziness

like they they do in the outer boroughs....and the rest of the usa...which i like too!:

but london definately goes for class over crass!

Geez...you couldn't get one of Harvey Nic's, but you could take one of Harrods's?

nope. it was dark and full of construction scaffolding.

we went in those shops friday right after christmas/boxing day, the worst day you could imagine.

everywhere was an utter madhouse...not to mention picked over.

i dk, i'd take the blue streak over the london eye any day.

but the london tube definately trumps the mine ride!

HAHA, I love it.  Seriously though, those are some amazing sights.  Carnaby St is great, but for some reason I really like those mesh stars on Regent St.  They create a really strange aesthetic.  Covent Garden has me a little disappointed though, that place is set up perfectly to string stuff all over.  Did they do anything in Leicester Square or Piccadilly Circus?

leicester had the street carnival above, but no lights that i noticed. piccadilly not really.

unfortunately, we walked thru covent garden market too early, before the lights inside were on.

the photos i have seen of them online change colors and are nice, but yeah nothing too dramatic (ie., like the snowmen):

Definitely looks nice.
