Until Spring 2008 it had been seven years since I last visited Columbus. I do a lot of exploring around Cincinnati, but have never really seen much around the state's capital:

My friend asked me to take her to Columbus to go buy a ferret at a pet store. I agreed to do so, so long as she bought me Chipotle in the arena district:

The next time I went to Columbus was over this previous summer with my dad.

Yesterday I photographed the Salvation Army food pantry on E. Main St. Since it didn't take as long as I expected, I decided to have a look around downtown and go see the Rhodes Tower observation level.

I wanted to try out some local place for lunch but only had 3 minutes left on the meter and no change left, so I headed out back on 33 towards Athens/school and stopped in Canal Winchester for Skyline Chili.....a great day! Thanks for checking out the photographs!

Awesome! I want to go to Columbus for a day or so this summer!

Nice and interesting perspective

Great assortment!  I love the reflected railroad bridges in #18.

I like those a lot. The last time I visited Columbus, it rained a lot and the Capitol rotunda was closed for restoration. It's beautiful.

I love your composition, it's fantastic.

Nice pictures.

As for there being an observation deck on the top of LeVeque, as already said before, no there is not one...but there used to be.  My dad told me he used to take the bus downtown with his sister and they used to watch the prisoners labor away at the old Ohio State Penitentiary.  I believe the former observation deck is now a penthouse, and last I heard, it was up for sale.  I think it would be great to buy that penthouse and reopen the observation deck.

As for the bridges criss-crossing the Scioto, I love the picture!  Just too bad the water didn't look all that great.

Sorry about the parking meter.  I think they can actually be a deterrent to downtown business and this is a good example.  There have been so many times that I have wanted to stay downtown but could not because I did not have enough change to park.  I had to go eat elsewhere.

This set makes me anxious for summer.

Well done.

A little infill here...and a little infill there and Cbus will have a pretty cool center city area.

Very nice pictures!

Great set of photos.  You captured two of my favorite lesser known Columbus skyscrapers.  The brutalist beauty in #11 is the Continental Centre Building at Fourth & Gay (aka "The Waffle Iron" Building).  The black tower in #12 is the Motorists Building (aka "The 2001 Monolith" Building).

Also, I know the question about whether the LeVeque Tower observation deck is public has already been answered.  But I wanted to add that Kathryn LeVeque had a personal residence on one of the top two floors.  I think its still there.  There's also a private apartment in that same area that's for rent.  Last I heard it was going for about $2500/month.

Thanks for the pics.  I really like your perspective.  The Scioto looks great.

This road need some medians...and throw in a streetcar while we're at it:

Sorry I haven't been around here in awhile, but I appreciate the replies and answers about the observation deck! Anyone wanna get a fund together to buy the residence and open up the observation deck?

I'd pay a dollar to spend 15 minutes on the observation deck.
