Posted January 27, 200916 yr While northern Ohio was in the throes of a major winter storm earlier this month, I was visiting Marietta. Here are a few pics that I was able to get before my shooting finger got numb. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time/blood flow to get to some of the amazing old homes in town. <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/PQ_nqlYCPX0YO9SsfjusSg?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrnvOU-qII/AAAAAAAABQQ/YeRnM9qzgPU/s800/IMG_1933.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/WtwI2a9OcfFRYJZgBXf6cg?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrnovmDwxI/AAAAAAAABQA/W-q0XpNNxcg/s800/IMG_1923.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/pKmON5KLEr1HUeXpybf-2A?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrnx-4HfMI/AAAAAAAABQY/NngPntGDRP4/s800/IMG_1934.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/v-6C2UHvFmZ1RefXQr3-bA?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrn1xL95XI/AAAAAAAABQg/SQGLt6S-Ojw/s800/IMG_1935.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/viRlfCvxhR7Xs3m0al3jWw?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrn4VI4omI/AAAAAAAABQs/x09k5G6DviQ/s800/IMG_1936.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ospyO_156dYWV8wonqtqZQ?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrn6bw0IgI/AAAAAAAABQ0/cfI2qTNhIrc/s800/IMG_1938.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/0cKWThYXfYpK3822FnTaqA?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrn_jQkHsI/AAAAAAAABQ8/gRzSAV9nVN8/s800/IMG_1941.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/BQPYcPJ1uJI0YB9apgQypw?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWroFB55c1I/AAAAAAAABRE/tpxYUp5G8kQ/s800/IMG_1943.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/ys_nEs3byrOuYmZCRAV72Q?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWroNclbCgI/AAAAAAAABRY/9uIvJmbWm3U/s800/IMG_1945.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/-CzbUWFf3iip_443SJgDpg?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWroR2ZrCtI/AAAAAAAABRg/9dQ2CJqPXiY/s800/IMG_1946.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/H9TGd6ouHwHUheqpV8TidQ?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWroViE7pjI/AAAAAAAABRo/jNnUZIK6i6M/s800/IMG_1947.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/MCgejz0H8ka9ggXARF0j_Q?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWroaUQBYLI/AAAAAAAABR0/ZlCz6ds8hcY/s800/IMG_1948.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Gqew6nsn8OIjnpwfXroNwA?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrofpycYVI/AAAAAAAABR8/xTOLWvmehgM/s800/IMG_1949.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/h2Vg_qEaJj9oaQ_Kb15AKQ?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrokDUqHWI/AAAAAAAABSE/VuYXKz2f_N8/s800/IMG_1950.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/r4_8JrRo1WkqCkOIEmmWng?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWropGb6pwI/AAAAAAAABSQ/LtWchVj3oT4/s800/IMG_1951.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/dpH1fw9jdoZZZ7yTVY7bMw?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWro6TzmONI/AAAAAAAABSs/2kNGaP4PeEY/s800/IMG_1954.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/sQDQhss3Mq2q7KOinjAF3g?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWro_60LTNI/AAAAAAAABS0/ICF52-PCoko/s800/IMG_1958.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/TJ2Y_FKVRbOpF7Beb4fbtg?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrpEIkDHJI/AAAAAAAABS8/MfufGyoXS4Y/s800/IMG_1959.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/hobb1wZ66426RkfUOpRX8w?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrpIDQt0KI/AAAAAAAABTI/zeHILWqN5-w/s800/IMG_1960.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/EvMGRs9wwVMl5KCPaVdSBg?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uL2ECqw02tQ/SWrpM6lTAtI/AAAAAAAABTQ/RDtyGw3qgTg/s800/IMG_1961.JPG" /></a>
January 27, 200916 yr wow. bang -- photo number one is my new screensaver. i can definately tell you were cold out there -- thx for freezing for us!
January 27, 200916 yr Nice town, kind of eerie on a misty day like that. Good shots man! lol the poster's name is Tina, so maybe it's nice shot woman lol
January 28, 200916 yr This is what I meant when I said secret hidden spaces are so stimulating. Thanks for these. You're an awesome photographer. You take pics regularly? Post 'em all up :-D
January 28, 200916 yr Beautiful photos! I've been to Marietta in summer, and it's pure bliss. Gorgeous setting on the river, and lots of history. Beautiful little town. Were those rails for a streetcar? Awesome photos!! Jeff, it doesn't look like anything runs on those rails now. The slots have been filled in where the wheel flanges would run.
January 28, 200916 yr Yeah, Marietta had a decent streetcar network that linked with Williamstown, West Virginia across the river. ^Former B&O trackage, abandoned not all that long ago (15 years IIRC). Converted into a pedestrian and bike path, closed for now as it undergoes repairs.
January 28, 200916 yr Beautiful shots! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
January 28, 200916 yr As a Marietta native, I love this pic. I worked in one of the buildings on the left side of the alley way. It was a clothing store at one time. Also we used to drink back there in high school. :drunk: This is what I meant when I said secret hidden spaces are so stimulating. Thanks for these. You're an awesome photographer. You take pics regularly? Post 'em all up :-D
January 29, 200916 yr Great set of photos. Marietta is wonderful little Ohio River city. Lots of character and charm. And as that photo of the engraved column shows - lots of history too. Probably one of the oldest built settlements in the state.
January 30, 200916 yr Wow there is so many brick streets still remaining in the city. We're proud of our brick streets. There was an effort to remove the black top from some covered over streets to expose the original brick, but with the economics being what they are, this project got moved to the back burner.
