Nice and tidy, not bad at all for a town whose location I have no idea other than it's in Ohio. Why is some old timey stuff creepy like that barber shop sign? At the same time, it has character.

The barber shop sign is the 2nd coolest thing about that town after its zip code..

Traysh!

Why is it that only 44444 is the only zip code of its kind? No 11111, 22222, 33333, 55555, etc. It's odd.

Thanks for this.  I've actually wondered about Newton Falls for a few years since I spotted it on google maps.  Now I need not wonder anymore.

Newton Falls is considered kind of foreign and out of the way by people living nearby.  There's something "off" about it.  That barbershop sign sums it up.  What is the barber trying to tell me?  Should it make me uncomfortable?  Why does it make me uncomfortable?  Let's get outta here.

My friends and I as kids believed that every illicit drug connection could eventually be linked to Newton Falls.  I don't know why we believed this.  It's really not that kind of place.  Not compared with the Youngstown area as a whole, which I suppose IS that kind of place.

HAHAHA! I almost forgot Newton Falls actually had a downtown! One thing you missed was the covered bridge. It's the only other thing Newton Falls is known for other than the zip code.

I don't think it's a terrible place, but everyone there seems to be related somehow. It's kind of creepy.  Down here in the Warren area Newton Falls is kind of like our hick cousin. My grandmother grew up there in the 20s and 30s on a farm. She always talked about walking past the whore house on her way home from school during the depression. All the "ladies" would be sitting out there on the front porch in the middle of summer wearing furs!!! There isn't really a whole lot of charm to the place. A few nice old houses, but otherwise it sort of reminds me of Deliverance.

Did you come here because of the zip code or did you come here and then realized what the zip code was?

The latter.

Nice! My hometown....Definitely missed the oldest, wooden, covered bridge in Ohio. Also the old high school that was ripped in half by the 1985 tornado.  Its now home to the cadle company which is the fastest growing business in Trumbull co.  Everyone from NF is certainly not related, or a hick as cortlandgirl implied.  Two of my best buddies from high school are engineers @ NASA here in ctown.

Ok, everyone may not be related, but it sure seems that way. Hasn't the same family run that town for quite a while now???? I know not everyone is a hick, a lot of my family is from there. I'm just saying people from outside of NF perceive it to be somewhat hickish. Just like you probably perceive Cortland to be a snobby town for of rich kids and Packard brats. Every town has a stereotype.

Thats not the stereotype I have of Cortland, maybe Howland.  I use to party at the Denmans quite a bit........They introduced me to country music and chewing tobacco.  Isn't Bazetta part of Lakeview???

Interesting little town!  THanks for the tour~

People from Howland think everyone else is a hick.  They don't realize they are too.  They're really mad they have to use Warren as their address.  Howland also resents Newton Falls because both football teams are the Tigers.

LOL You guys are cracking me up. People in Mahoning County think Trumbull County people are all hicks, so who cares, right??? We've got to all stick together. That's funny you know the Denman's. They are pretty country, nice family. I see Keith around town sometimes when i'm in Cortland. Yes, Bazetta is part of Lakeview. When i was in school it was a big deal, Cortland people vs. bazetta. Now Bazetta (on the east side of the lake) has all the big houses that the Cortland people envy. It's pretty funny. I liked it better when Cortland was just a blue collar town.

Hey! I'm from Howland and don't think anyone except those from Kentucky are hicks! ;-)

Bazetta is part of Lakeview School District, as is Cortland. Lakeview is the SD not the place.

and btw- I don't resent anyone from NF... we never played them in FB.

I made that up about the football teams, nobody cares about that.  But I'm from Howland and I thought its reputation was accurate.  There were plenty of cool people but way too much 90210.  Not not as much as Poland or Boardman probably.  I always assumed it was about the same at Lakeview.  Who can tell?  You only get to do one of them, one time.  Man I wanna be in high school again.

Heh.. a whole 10 years before me....

Graduating in 04 you wouldn't have met my younger brothers either.  Was Officer Cranston still on duty when you went to school?  I'm sure he's retired by now.

I don't remember who the student resources officer was... You probably had some of the same teachers as me though... Leow, Potashnik, Sue King, Jan King, Julie King, etc

I had about half those teachers.  We had 3 or 4 Kings, including Dennis with the polio arm.  Best math teacher ever.  Officer Cranston was a Howland cop, had nothing to do with the school.  He was a major character in the 90s.  Archenemy of all kids.  He guarded the park at night and looked for curfew violators.  Turned out he was a pretty cool guy but we were all afraid of him for years.

I remember seeing the signs for this on I-76.
