Seems like a wasteful loss for the city unless Waverly and Oak have something other plans for the property that they are not disclosing. The owners of Minh Anh wanted to retire. September 30, 20213 yr Lake-Detroit site bought by Rochester, NY developer By Ken Prendergast / September 29, 2021 A vacant property at a high-profile intersection on Cleveland’s West Side recently sold to a Rochester, NY developer with deep pockets. Although a decision hasn’t apparently been made on what will be developed at the corner of Detroit and Lake avenues, multi-family housing is the preferred use. It’s the latest of several potential developments within a few blocks of this site that could offer a mix of housing choices, retailers and jobs in a walkable, transit-friendly setting near Edgewater Park. September 30, 20213 yr Thanks for the great news, @KJP. That has the potential to be such a transformative corner…and hopefully they truly go for mixed-use! September 30, 20213 yr Sounds like good news, though still very early. The Lake corridor has big potential, especially if a couple dominoes like this begin to fall.

October 1, 20213 yr I'd argue the paddle, while not the most engaging to all, helps create a more diverse selection of public art in the city. It shows how perceptions change over time, from representational bronze sculptures, to modernist ones (Edgewater), to playful Oldenberg-esque ones. My hope would be for more public art that add's to the diversity of the city.

Yeah but I think some art fits more the categorization of the leg lamp. While some people like it and may even be proud of it, the vast majority of people do not so it does not deserve such a prominent spot.

October 28, 20213 yr Developer acquires lakefront industrial site for housing By Ken Prendergast / October 28, 2021 Some real estate developers join a parade already in progress. Others start the parade. Property Advisors Group (PAG) appears to be in the latter category with their acquisition yesterday of a large property at 8400 Lake Ave. on which it intends to build housing. PAG is starting what some expect will be the arrival of more investors and more residential developments along and north of Lake Avenue, between Detroit Avenue and Clifton Boulevard. This is an area that hasn’t yet seen the kind of investment activity as Gordon Square to the east or the stability of the Edgewater neighborhood to the west. October 30, 20213 yr Ex-Westinghouse plant sold to developer By Ken Prendergast / October 30, 2021 One of the most visible properties on Cleveland’s West Side is the former Westinghouse plant, as it towers over the West Shoreway near Edgewater Park. December 19, 20213 yr It’s crazy what an impact the new developments along W73rd in/around Battery Park are. The 25-unit Park Place Townhomes will help fill in a big missing gap, while the two Avenue Partners’ apartment buildings (258 total units) have an incredibly strong street presence to the east. Totally changes the whole look and feel of this stretch, which is awesome. It now is really starting to feel like a very dense and built up corridor / neighborhood.
December 20, 20213 yr I visited the Detroit Shoreway area this past summer and was blown away by how great of a neighborhood it is. These new townhomes/apartments really make the area look much nicer and they make the neighborhood look nice and modern when viewed from Edgewater Beach and the Shoreway. If I was moving to Cleveland, I'd probably pick the Gordon Square area - It would be great to live in a neighborhood that's within walking distance of a vibrant commercial district as well as Edgewater Park and the Lakefront Bikeway!
