Posted September 22, 200519 yr One of Hamilton's four historic districts, Dayton Lane contains the largest number of structures. From their website, historicdaytonlane.org: The Dayton Lane Historic District, more commonly known as Dayton Lane, consists of 210 structures built during the last quarter of the nineteenth century and first quarter of the twentieth century when it was home to Hamilton's prominent industrialists. The houses in the district represent the rich variety of architectural styles popular at the district's height, including Queen Anne, Italianate, Second Empire, and Georgian Revival. Campbell Avenue was named after Lewis D. Campbell, a major landowner who donated a parcel of land to the city of Hamilton fo use as Campbell Avenue Park. The Dayton Lane Historic District is a wonderfully restored and maintained neighborhood of Hamilton, Ohio showcasing some of the region's most glorious Victorian architecture. Their latest project added gateway arches at each side of Dayton Lane: The other multiple entrances are marked with small signs of light poles: The office of Hamilton's former Mayor Nye The Episcopal Church Campbell Ave. Park is just a median with mature trees, flowers, sidewalks, and streetlights. Is Lindenwald one of them? Rossville, the German Village, Dayton Campbell, and Hamilton Histoic Civic Center. Historic Civic Center includes the Municipal Building, Soldiers Monument, Courthouse and the Anthony Wayne, I believe. The old bridge was part, but now it has been demolished, so I guess thats out. Rossville is on the westside, I should get some pics. It is similar to S. Main in Middletown.

January 28, 200619 yr Great shots! Looks like a nice place. (Forgive me if I've forgotten what the area looks like since your previous Dayton Lane thread.) This dome-like thing is really interesting. I'm not an architecture buff- is this exemplary of some style or other? It doesn't seem like something you see very much.
January 29, 200619 yr ^ Well, it's an "onion dome" and it's based on Russian and Islamic architectural styles. In America, it's usually seen in Queen Anne styled houses, like the one pictured.

April 19, 200619 yr ^That is a cool building, but a little awkward (in a good way). I can see myself living in an apartment in Dayton Lane or the German Village, the rent is affordable and you can easily walk to downtown.

February 11, 200916 yr Ink: Thanks for the great pics of our neighborhood! Great to see the comments after the photos. We have worked hard over the years to bring this neighorhood back. It will always be a work in progress.
February 11, 200916 yr I interned at the consulting firm that suggested the arches in Dayton Lane this summer! Hamilton is a cool place.
