Just one photo for now, but as some of you know I spent the last week in Hawaii. There'll be PLENTY of photos later but for now I figured I'd share one shot from the flight back (and add more Cleveland shots to this thread later). Enjoy!

The next few shots made it easier to come back from a place as gorgeous as Oahu:

Not quite sure where this is - guessing Fairview Park:

I hate you.

the lake looks cool. are those two apartment looking buildings between the beginnings of those two bridges, is that the flats still?

No, that's the projects.

No it's Ohio City.

Those are Riverview Estates, located on West 25th Street in Ohio City, but they're on the ridge *above* the Flats (technically, the Irishtown Bend section of the Flats). And yes, they're the PJs - specifically subsidized senior housing.

Such tiny windows they have, with one of the best views imaginable.

yea it's amazing that the projects have one of the best views of Cleveland....

There are also projects located near St. Malachi north of the Shoreway.  They have a great view of the lake.

Looks like hell has frozen over *runs*

Just kidding. Nice pic. Cleveland looks so different glazed in ice.

Cool picture.  It makes me imagine the Justice Center and the NCB building arguing about:

"I'm square."

"No I'm square."

"Well, I'm more square than you."

"Why don't you just be square over there."

Hawaii?  Sounds great, and warm.  That picture is a killer!  I just bought a camera like yours...after I saw that last set of photos you did and some from a friend with the same camera I was convinced.

In 3 weeks am taking a trek across country so will finally be posting a few pictures myself. Mine will not compare to yours of course!

And hopefully there won't be any of that white stuff on the ground either.

Key Tower is such a beast.

Regarding the photo, were you flying in from the east?  I know you said you were in Hawaii, but the photo seems to be taken quite far east of the airport.

It was the strangest flight pattern I've ever seen coming into CLE - I'm pretty sure we passed over eastern Ohio (possibly Jefferson County), then banked left - the captain said "okay folks, you'll have a great view of Cleveland from the right side of the plane". Of course I'm looking left and right and seeing nothing - then 5 minutes later I see Crown Center in Independence, and after that some great angles of downtown. I'll be posting those over the weekend :-)

I'm beginning to think the "Burke is never used" discussion is next in line to the "golly gosh, if they'd only built the dual hub from downtown to University Circle" talk. Get over it, and get out of my thread if that's what you want to focus on - mahalo! :-D

You can take the b!tch out of Cleveland, but you can never take the Cleveland outta the b!tch!

The Cuyahoga almost looks like two canals heading for TC.  What day did you take this?  Thursday?

Thank god for Lake Erie.....such a great backdrop that compliments Cleveland oh so much! :)

17.  St. Mary's Romanian Orthodox Cathedral on Warren Road.  http://smroc.link2net.net/

18. Fairview Hospital, not SW General.  Kamm's Corners shopping center in right of photo.  Avon Lake power plant in the distant upper left.

19. St. Patrick's Church and School (West Park). http://www.stpatrickwp.org/

Project for MayDay:  insert either of the proposed buildings for that open spot on the square, or some of the other stuff that's been proposed recently like apartment towers on Euclid or a major hotel on Ontario by the mall.

I've flown in on that flight pattern on several occasions, including once at night directly over downtown and over the “Jake.” You could see the players on the field!

Nice pics!

Great stuff...they turned out really well and give a great aerial view of an iced-over Cleveland.

Oh alright :-) Please note - NONE of these are under construction (thanks to the economy), but some were on their way before the bottom fell out and of them the most likely to happen would be the convention center hotel - I sized it at about 400 feet considering it would be built on a floating pad rather than caissons:

The river had been frozen over from the mouth to about the curve by Hooples until the temperature warmed up this weekend.  So it looks deceiving as it's hard to make out where the river is since it's snow covered in that section all the way to the Lake.

Neat shots.  Scranton Peninsula makes me wilt a little inside.
