I am a big fan of the webcomic Toothpaste for Dinner.  The artist, Drew, lives in Columbus with his wife Natalie Dee, who also has a webcomic.

Drew is a native of Cincinnati -- he went to UC and was a research chemist before becoming a full-time webcomic artist.  However it seems that he had a very poor experience living here.  As a result, he uses Cincinnati as a punchline quite a bit.  Here are some examples of his anti-Cincinnati comics.

I'm just wondering if anyone has seen this before and has an opinion?  I think it's a great illustration of the general perceptions of Cincinnati from outsiders.  I think it's sad that he has chosen to move away rather than becoming part of the solution.

I would also like to add that Drew's voice and vocal inflection are eerily similar to that of Jason Haap.  Coincidence?

That guy has some great graphic skills. He could be the next Charley Harper. I think I'll ignore him.

I take it he wasn't a very good research chemist either!

Yeah .. I've seen this graphic "style" so many times already, and done with much more wit behind it than this guy. Not that I have anything against this barebones visual style, per se. But I personally think it's very lacking, and just not very interesting or provocative. Some of his cartoons are humorous, but more of the Sunday cartoon section variety, not of something incredibly witty.

Not to take this in a completely different direction, but my friend recently led me to this: www.alienlovespredator.com. In comparison, this is hilarious and fresh, though the "South Park" type of humor has been done before.

Wow, he doesn't like Cincy.
