Does that mean we should buy products that are made in America, whose companies are headquartered here, and/or who have a large number of employees working within America?

I googled this "Buy American" term - didn't find much consistency there as everyone has a different interpretation of what that means.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure there is such a thing as "Buy American" IMO. Usually parts, ingredients, etc. are from somewhere else although the end product is made in the US. I’m sure there are some exceptions but generally this seems to be the case.

It's not that complicated, just impossible.  Ideally you'd be buying from American companies with American workers.  But as everyone knows that's tough to do these days.

I think it's a company headquartered in America (so corp profits would stay in the country), employing American workers (seemingly a given if they are HQd here) and preferably utilizing American-made products, but I cannot think of any such company other than very small businesses selling locally-made goods and services.  For example, we bought a Chevy car a few years ago and it listed the percentages of where different components of the car were made - the parts were made in Japan, Korea and China, with a very small percentage actually being made here in the U.S.  GM is headquartered here, so that's level 1.  Level 2 would be that I buy coffee from a local roaster.  They procure the beans from other countries, but they roast them here and employ local people and the profits they make go back into my local economy.  Level 3 would be the farmer's markets and vendors from the WSM I support, that raise their own livestock or produce, maintain local farms and employ local people to sell those goods.  At some point, other countries might be involved, such as if they got animal feed or seeds from overseas, but I don't think most of them do that.  To me, that is buying 100% American.
