Posted February 24, 200916 yr A near-southside neighborhood, Livingston Park is well known as the location of Children's Hospital, who has basically acted as a bully rather than improve the area. In fact, some of the homes shown here will be torn down for an expansion, probably sometime this year, never to be seen again. They simply don't want to sacrfice their bounty of surface parking. Other homes have already been cleared out, so it's likely that history will repeat itself. Oh, but we're constructing some new builds, so come guys, we aren't all that bad, although we might just knock those down along with the rest once they've outlived their usefulness as good PR. The neighborhood has some quality structures and reminds me of the near-east side, but without as much gentrification. Commercial streets here are lazily tagged by gangs including some R.I.P.s (tearjerking, I know) and basically consist of little, unkempt carry outs which at least have murals on their sides. Most of Livingston is actually residential and Parsons is, well, not good. They have a new drive-thru Subway, with the building up against the sidewalk thanks to a lackluster "urban commercial overlay" which is supposed to dictate urban design for new developments and redevelopments. "No drive-thrus" should be a part of it. (From the city of Columbus) I was considering also covering Ganther's Place to the south of here, but I thought it best to get outta there. I'll explain later. A man was here selling Watchtower magazines. I politely declined and that was all. Not very pushy these days, those Jehovah's Witnesses. Awnings like these are common, not sure if that goes for other neighborhoods in the area. Mmm, peppermint. A curvey section of Livingston Ave. A brand new school. Like a rainbow. My favorite set in the neighborhood. Did I mention they like awnings around here? Some pastels. Right side. Left side. Yes, that was in fact a pedestrian you ran over. My new wallpaper. Some girls from nearby saw me taking picsw on Livingston and one asked me, "Hey, are you from here?" and I said yeah, even though i'm sure she meant from that neighborhood. It's funny how much you can read into so few words. She obviously didn't think I was and she was probably asking because what I was doing was ill-advised and something a resident wouldn't be doing. More awnings. A view of Livingston. Across the street. Even the rowhomes have awnings! After this I was on a narrow one-way residential street when some dumb bitch was honking at me on my bike. Approaching Whittier to take a right (it's a well traveled road with plenty of eyes) I slowed down and took my sweet time. Very satisfying. Then on the way to Ganther's Place just a few blocks south I first took some pics on the way and I got berated by some guy for taking a picture of a business sign. He said he lived down the street on the corner and if I took a picture of his house he'd smash my camera. I wished him a good day before leaving and he said "Oh no, you have a bad day". I of course replied "Thanks!" with a big grin. He said he'll rembember my face, so I'm on notice. I had enough negativity, so I wasn't going to push my luck. I finished so, yay! Oh, I came across an old photo I took of Parsons. It explains why I didn't go out of my way to include it.

February 25, 200916 yr Great pics, can't belive how rude that guy was. I've been approached a few times and asked about the pictures I was taking but never had anyone be rude like that, they were just curious.
February 25, 200916 yr Re: the last pic- Columbus sure does have a lot of beer drive-throughs. They are so lame. I hate having to ask for beer and feeling hurried to make a decision by cars behind me.
