ADA — When Ohio Northern University’s $71 million student housing transformation is complete in 10 years, the oldest housing facility on campus will be apartments built in 2001.

“We are, during the course of the next eight to 10 years, transforming the housing options that are available on the Ohio Northern University campus,” President Kendall Baker said.

Wow, that's a big project.  I was at Ohio Northern just once, five or six years ago, and I probably saw the dorms but have no memory of what they are like.

I checked the ONU website and they had the press release, but no renderings or anything yet.  I've never even been on the campus, so I don't have a clue.

ONU opens first phase of new housing

Thank God. I visited there a long time ago when considering college and ONU had the absolute worst dorms I'd ever seen. It was just a really big, long connected building that housed ALL of their undergrads. It was cramped and poorly designed, and needless to say, I didn't go there.

Hotel coming to ONU

Beth L. Jokinen | [email protected] - 06.02.2007

ADA — For years potential students and families have visited Ohio Northern University, and others have come on campus to attend performances or other events.

But when they were done, they either had to go back home or drive somewhere else to spend the night.

Ada and ONU leaders brainstorm with planning firm on improving village

By Virginia Bandy, Ada Herald Editor

9/8/2010

In his comments to the Ada Council on Tuesday night, Ada Mayor Dave Retterer announced that he, along with other members of the community and Ohio Northern University, have been in discussions with a municipal planning and development firm on how to "make better use of our space and make it more attractive."  The firm, Dillon Corporation, met with Ada community and university leaders for brainstorming sessions and provided some suggestions for making improvements while "retaining the character of the community," according to Retterer.  He noted that some of the suggestions are right in line with those of the Ada Improvement and Development Effort (AIDE) that has already been established to rejuvenate the look of downtown buildings
