Awesome shots!

These are great shots.  It's great that the Emery Theatre is making a comeback, and hopefully so will the Oakley Drive-In.  The rest = blah.

Oakley is dead. They are redeveloping that entire area.

Yeah, unfortunately Rando the Oakley was gone for good some time after those shots were taken. They were taken in August 2007 I think and only the screen and sign were still there. I think the sign is still there, but I believe the old drive in is now a parking lot for that business you see being constructed.

Sad about the Oakley drive in.  There are still a few drive ins around the metro, but they're all way out in the country.  Also, there is an old theatre in the West End/Northwest part of OTR that always intrigued me.  Anyone know what I'm talking about?

^I think I know which one you're talking about Edale. It seems to always have a stack of mattresses or someone selling handbags in front of it. Near Linn St. I think.

Imperial Theatre --282 McMicken Avenue, Cincinnati

anyone have anything to share about this place?

"This theatre was a neighborhood theatre in the Mohawk section of Cincinnati on McMicken Avenue. In the mid '60s, they started showing adult movies (back then they were rated X, but now those movies would be a "soft R".) Later in the '60s, they had live burlesque shows and renamed it Imperial Follies. Now it is empty but the building remains, with the marquee"

We saw a show in about 06 at the Oakley and honestly, it was fun but it was hard because the ambient light made it hard to see much on screen and the neighborhoods really back right up to it.

The site development is well underway. There is a really (shockingly) nice pet kennel already built, as well as some decent looking apartments and maybe retail under construction.

I think the new stuff is a superior landuse overall. Then again, I tend to be a bit biased against anything where you have to stay in your car.

^That's good to hear, at least. I actually got lost looking for it back in 2007 and I really enjoy that area of town.

Yes, that's the one I was referring to in my above post and I believe the one edale is referring to.

Yes it is. Thanks Mcadrenaline

abandoned theaters -- i love this stuff. very good!

Its good the northgate one is done.. I went and saw a movie there once.. major disaster..and I couldnt get my 17 dollars back..

When I get a chance (probably tomorrow), I will take some shots of the old abadoned theatre at Linn and Clark streets.  It is a grand building that needs some major TLC.
