  • What types of things do you kids like to do?
  • For events what price range are you looking at?
  • Indoor or Outdoor?
  • Driving or Public transportation?
  • Day or Evening?

We need a lil more information to help you get your "mack" on  ;)

Price is not an issue. Indoor or Outdoor is fine. Sat evening we are going for the basketball game against the Heats. Looking to do something during the day as skiing is out of the picture, or so I think, Or do you guys think we can still go skiing at Boston Mills? And I have a car.

You can probably go skiing at Boston Mills. What's their base? Call and find out.

If the slopes look like muddy snow, trying hiking in and around the Peninsula area. If it's raining, try the car show at the I-X Center and offer your final respects to GM and Chrysler. :D

You can always browse art galleries in Little Italy, try one of my rail transit tours, see the Science Center, the Steamship Mather museum and the Lakeshore Electric streetcar museum just north of the Mather in the port warehouses.

Just a few suggestions...

Bundling up and going for a walk in the Metroparks and maybe a picnic would be good if these warm temps are to continue through the weekend.  I would stay on the paved paths though, the rest will be too muddy/wet.

Zoo and rainforest is also a good option, as is the botanical gardens.  West side market saturday morning?

Where is the rainforest?

It's at the zoo.

I actually don't think the ferries are running yet (though it would be kind of cool to see what it's like during winter on the island). I don't think there is regular ferry service until April. The season is April through November.

Correct - ferries don't start until March 27.  Although you can fly or take the air boat in the winter.  But probably not realistic on short notice (and winter on the Island is awesome, BTW...http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,18347.0.html).

I would 2nd RnR's reccommedation of the West Side Market Saturday morning.  Explore the market, swing by Great Lakes for lunch...maybe go get a lane at Corner Alley, head to the game...sounds like fun to me!

Come one, give him a pass this time.  He hasn't lived here very long and living in Beachwood, he's not exactly in a place where people talk about things that go on in the city.

Give him credit, he came here to ask.

That is not a good excuse. I don't live in the city (not even as close as Beachwood) and I know where it is. :-D

He's new to the area whippersnapper!

Actually I have been to the zoo and do remember visiting the rainforest there.

But from the response it seemed like the zoo and rainforest were different places, but now that I know they are not, I know where it is.

Anyways, I had a good time over the weekend

what did you end up doing?

Red Robin

Boneyard

Dave and Busters

Cavs VS Miami Heats

Auto Show

oh, you're killing me.  3 chain restaurants given all our wonderful dining choices?  Ack!  The zoo/rainforest thing didn't bug me, but this one hurts!

I was thinking the same thing.  You were right downtown with a TON of places to eat and things to do.

I hope you showed her a good time and she doesn't got back to Dallas with a unfavorable impression of the city.

And they're not even different types of food.  She'll think all we have to offer is mediocre bar food.

Some people (myself excluded) apparently LIKE chicken fingers...

Actually we only went to Red Robin for food. Dave and Busters & Boneyard was for the games. All in all she had a good time. Skiing would have been fun.

My sister and a friend went to New York City for the weekend. They were looking around trying to decide where to go eat. My sister's friend suggested going to Olive Garden. She almost killed him. Glad I wasn't with them -- I would have killed him. How you show someone your city and then take them to a chain restaurant that every city has???

Stick around on UO a little longer. We'll wake you up from that pre-packaged plastic suburban trance they've put you in.

I assume they were in Times Square. But why go to Olive Garden when there's a Red Lobster and a Bubba Gump down a couple of blocks  ...ha ha...
