Posted March 8, 200916 yr Krakow is definitely the cultural jewel of Poland. I enjoyed my two weeks there; it is a must see! I also visted Wadowice, Pope John-Paul's hometown before spending a week in Aushwitz.
March 8, 200916 yr Great photos - I was in Krakow in 1991 and would love to go back to Eastern Europe again. I love the street life and lack of autos on the main streets of the market square.
March 8, 200916 yr I may not return after I go and see these places for myself. Europe is spectacular.

March 8, 200916 yr I went to Poland several years ago with my family. Both of my parents are Polish, which definitely helped language-wise (I can speak enough to get by .. barely). Krakow was definitely my favorite Polish city, though there are lots of others that are beautiful as well. Poland is a very underrated country, I think, in terms of tourism. I highly recommend a visit. The people are fantastic, and the history there (whatever wasn't destroyed in the wars, which was quite a bit, unfortunately) is gorgeous.
March 9, 200916 yr Beautiful photos. Seeing Europe gives one a new perspective on American "history." America hasn't been around long enough to have much history in that context.
