March 8, 200916 yr Ohio's most lowkey big city. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 8, 200916 yr Interesting shots. Still quite gritty in a lot of places, but Akron looks better than I remember it from 20 years ago. There's some nice vintage architecture downtown.
March 8, 200916 yr it would be really perfect , if user would write a little more , where are all these locations and where are these cities .. internet is international and not everyone knows where to find things ..
March 8, 200916 yr huh? English is not his first language. I think he is asking if titles (or descriptions & locations) could be added to each picture. This way someone not familiar with the area can have a sense of the location for each photo.
March 8, 200916 yr Nice Akron series Andrew! Not to take away from the beautiful job you did but I would love to see more neighborhoods. Youngstown, Toledo, and Canton neighborhoods are way underrepresented in UO photo treads IMO.
March 8, 200916 yr I hate the way they tacked on the signage on this tower - ruins the aesthetics/proportions. Bring back the old rotating Blow Job Beacon Journal sign on the parking garage... Here's a pic of the tower originally: Anyone have a pic of the old sign?

This way someone not familiar with the area can have a sense of the location for each photo. Ok, I guess that makes sense. I added general locations of where these pictures were taken. If someone was planning on seeing Downtown Akron I would suggest parking near Canal Park/the tow path area (parking located near Canal Park at the end of Paul Williams St, which is off of Exchange) and just walking around (downtown is pretty much bordered by Exchange to the south, Main St. to the west, Broadway to the east, and Market St. to the north). Florida Guy, I am not a local to the area (I just go to Kent State) so I really don't know of many neighborhoods in Akron (besides where my uncle lives and Highland Square, both of which I haven't had the chance to do a photo tour of). Buckeye, I thought that the top looked odd; makes sense that it is an addition.
March 9, 200916 yr it would be really perfect , if user would write a little more , where are all these locations and where are these cities .. internet is international and not everyone knows where to find things .. Cinncinnatus, Because Akron is in the City Photos - Ohio section, you may assume that it's a city in Ohio even though the state name isn't given in the thread title. For general information about most cities, Wikipedia is a good place to start. It's not always 100 percent accurate and may be biased one way or the other, but it gives the location, population, and a brief history including industries and settlement patters. Any search engine should turn up the Wikipedia link. In the case of Akron, Ohio, the Wikipedia reference can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akron%2C_Ohio I hope this helps.

Maybe you were scoping out somewhere to transfer...... Nice Job and thanks for the pics!
March 9, 200916 yr Wow, someone from Can't State put Akron in a good light!?!? Maybe you were scoping out somewhere to transfer...... Nice Job and thanks for the pics! You caught me! Well, I am thinking about transferring, but I am probably just going to stay at Kent.
March 13, 200916 yr Great pics andrew0816! Thanks for posting. I can remember going down to Lock 2 Park (the one with the waterfalls) when I was little. We used go stare at the waterfalls and then head over to the BBQ joint on Main St (gone now, sat where Canal Park now sits) and my dad would get me and my sis juice boxes before heading home. Ahh... the memories.

March 15, 200916 yr What is going on in photo 106? Is that beneath a bridge or some sort of railroad ditch?
