March 20, 200916 yr I should be on the Cincinnati Welcoming Committee!! eh. I think I should. I took him out to 2, count them 2 meals. Plus I housed him. What did you do Sherman? Complain all night.....check. Thank goodness, you took your BF and were not injured like AJ's former victim. AJ's former victim? Dare I ask? Do I need a restraining order? He does know where I live now..... Yes! The victim is traumatized and is in seclusion. I did try to warn you. You know AJ's Parol Officer, do you need his number? Theres something about a boy in trouble with the law I find so....appealing. :-o HAHAHAHA! Atlas, you are the greatest. MTS, you have the most twisted mind imaginable. You should re-apply your foundation. I think it's crumbling. Foundation?? Oh dear, never that. I'm a gracefully aging gay man, not some 20 something, washed up, couch surfing, part-time barista, part-time fugitive who locks his boyfriend to in the basement a la Josef Fritzl. I'm just a nice boy from Shaker Square. (dialing your PO)
March 20, 200916 yr I would pass on Indian Hill unless you are wholly interested in seeing stucco, suburban mansions with no planning or design. Double wides in Kentucky hold up better than those monstrosities. This is true for some of the houses in IH, but definitely just a very small minority. Indian Hill is a really old and historic area where the wealthy of Cincinnati would have their summer homes and stables for their horses. The area is quite beautiful and strangely rural, even though it is surrounded by other neighborhoods. Most of the homes are old, and there is a history to IH that can be found in many of the old churches, cemetaries, and horse trails (there's even a polo field in IH). IH doesn't offer the neighborhood feel of HP, but it isn't really supposed to as it's a spacious and land based community.
March 20, 200916 yr I visited a good friend in Indian Hill at his parents' house a while back, and was surprised to find that it was just a typical ranch with double the square footage. I noticed an overall lack of houses built to impress people. That also surprised me.

Probably the wrong Indian Hill! lol Seriously though, most "impressive houses" can't be seen by the street, most are gated off. See Google earth for pics.
March 20, 200916 yr I figured. But why do that? If it's hidden it doesn't have to look good. Most homes in historic exclusive neighborhoods are set back off the street. You don't want to see your neighbors.
March 20, 200916 yr I figured. But why do that? If it's hidden it doesn't have to look good. I've done about 3 IH tours with out of towners. Everytime I go, I find something new. Even the locals don't know the area by heart. It can be easy to get lost in. As far as why the $$$ if no one can see it? A lot of people do see it. Party's and what not. Plus, there is nothing that's "too expensive" regarding home supplies to folks that have millions in assets. I've never had one of these houses as a listing, but I've held open houses here quite a few times. They're so gawky and over the top it's sick. They don't buy things because they go together, they buy things because it's the most expensive/best. To get an idea of the size (it's hard because you can't zoom in close to this area), look at the metrics in the bottom left hand corner and then look at the house.

The inside of their house is a sooooooooo tacky. But you would swear they were the King and Queen of Shaker.

I'm thinking, you have the money - hire a damn interior designer! lol

The smell of freshly baked food, especially the aroma of cookies. Or a wood burning fire. If you can't do that, use scented candles. I don't think architecture is Indian Hill's strongest selling point. It's the idea of the place. Carson Palmer lives there. Peter Frampton, and so on. Carson Palmer's house is actually a really cookie-cutter looking McMansion. If I were rich I'd live in Keys Crescent area or south of Observatory Ave. in Hyde Park. I never really understood the lure of Indian Hill. Bunch of oversized ranches. Hell Rollman Reserve in Amberly is way nicer than the majority of IH.

From what I've been told it's fresh apple pie is the number one scent (real estate folks correct me if I'm wrong). Thats why some people steam apples on open house day or "roast" them in the oven. Cookie cutter mcmansions....ick!
March 20, 200916 yr I also wondered if people there blew their money on horses instead of houses. Horses seem to be a bigger deal down there.
March 20, 200916 yr They do, and it's stupid. Horses are an outdated mode of transportation! The area does border - gasp - Kentucky.
March 20, 200916 yr I was at a bar in downtown Cincy last weekend and they had horse racing on TV. Never seen that before. Man did we tear that place up. There were 5 old people sitting there all quiet, and in comes me and my 30 associates of the WOOOOO! variety. The look on those regulars' faces was priceless... if only I could remember it.

The "Woooo! Variety"? What tribe is that?
March 20, 200916 yr I think most of them are in insurance or something, although one was this elderly gigolo from OTR we found along the way.

March 20, 200916 yr He had an old suit and matching blue leather hat and shoes. Interesting fellow. All over everyone's wife. Eventually he got in a random car with a random dude and left.

March 20, 200916 yr I was at a bar in downtown Cincy last weekend and they had horse racing on TV. Never seen that before. When I worked downtown, someone from the Boston area was destined to find a horse track. I think it's a gambling thing. What bar did you guys go to?
March 20, 200916 yr What bar did you guys go to? Most of them, one hour apiece. We started at OMalleys, hit the big chain places early, then did some smaller ones toward the end. I think my favorite was Nicholsons. It's about time somebody did Scottish instead of Irish. I can't remember the name of that one place. Over the line? Across the line? Something like that. It was on the last street south before the freeways and stadiums. SW corner of downtown. The bartender said the owner had some racehorses and that's why they paid for the deep TV coverage. It wasn't ESPN, this channel was exclusively racing and it showed all kinds of stats and figures.

Yeah, I was pretty sure Horse Racing was more of a KY and Northeast thing and it was ... 4 out of the top 10 horse tracks are in the NE. Was it Head First ... that's a hole in the wall type of place on w. 3rd St.?
March 21, 200916 yr In Between sits across from Great American and Head First is closer to Paul Brown.
March 23, 200916 yr Alright, my photo's are up and running: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,18762.msg379910.html
