If any of you urbanohioers out there use xml or rss feeds, here is what you need to get hooked up with new posts.  :-D

http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml  --  paste this address in whatever program you use

Those of you who use firefox - go to www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php and look for the little [glow=orange,2,300]orange[/glow]  buttom at the very right of the address bar and click on it to Add Live Bookmark. Then you'll be able to see the 5 newest threads posted without visiting the site.

Great idea, though I probably won't use it.  I love RSS feeds, though, and I wish all content-heavy websites would offer it.

Can I ask a stupid question?  What are XML and RSS feeds?

Stop laughing at my ignorance!

EDIT- okay, never mind, I think I figured it out on my own.  You can laugh at me now.

I know there has been the capability to 'subscribe' to thread feeds for a while now, but I just noticed this evening that the little orange icon is now proudly sitting at the end of each container in addition to my address bar.

Is this another new option?

I was wondering the same thing....all I know is that I love the additional colors and excitement that they offer!!!  They definately liven up the main forum page!!!

Cool.

I agree. They look good.

Thanks

Sometimes when I view an RSS feed in Outlook I see the authors' email address, sometimes it says it's from urbanohio.com, is this supposed to happen? When I view the post on the forum, it uses the poster's username but in outlook it gives an email address (maybe 1 out of 5 times).

My only explanation is that some users hide their email address explaining the urbanohio.com.  Those that do not hide, their email shows up.  That's my guess.

Pope, it's a bug in the 2.0 release that will be fixed on beta 4 of the SMF software.  Hopefully it won't be too long until it's released.

Rich (or anyone else that knows), I'm having trouble with the RSS feed located at the top of this page with my RSS reader and with Firefox's ... Can you post a universal RSS feed URL to the forums index page please?

See my previous post ^.  I can fix it soon if we decide to update to the beta 4 release.  If we do upgrade now, we may lose most of our mods.  If you guys don't mind that and a few hours down time I'll do the update.

YES! We need it! Thanks man. ;)
