Posted March 22, 200916 yr Does anyone else using Safari get a large, blank space at the top of the homepage? I have to scroll all the way down just to get be able to see the homepage content. This is only on Safari, as I have checked firefox and it's normal using that browser. I was just wondering if it's a glitch from the browser, or if Safari is reading it differently. I also just noticed that the navigation links are missing. This is just on Safari though. Firefox is fine. I should also note that I am using the newest version of Safari, 4.0 Public Beta. I'm going to report it as a bug to apple to see if they can do anything also.
March 22, 200916 yr Which theme are you using? My theme is center in the middle of the page and I have grey blank space on each side. Also, why in safari can you not use bullets in the same manner you can when using IE? Also the "glow" feature does not show the same on Safair vs. IE.
March 22, 200916 yr I was talking about the actual UO homepage. I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to.
March 22, 200916 yr I was talking about the actual UO homepage. I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to. I don't see any "blank space" on the home page. My question was in regard to posting. When you post in safari and use bullets, it's not formated to automatically start bullets like IE.
March 22, 200916 yr What version of Safari were you using when you viewed the home page? I am using the newest version that came out maybe about a month ago. It's still in beta, so I reported a "missing content" bug to Apple. I just wanted to know how many other people were having problems. And I understand now. I never use IE, and if I do, it's only for reference, so I'm not sure why it would show bullets different like that. I know IE reads XHTML a little differently and is more lax on reading different tags and formating so that might be why.
March 22, 200916 yr What version of Safari though? While in Safari, you go up to Safari in the menu bar, then About Safari and it should tell you what version you are using. The newest one just came out so you might not have it and that's probably it's working for you.

March 22, 200916 yr Yeah you have the previous version. I guess there are still bugs with the new 4. Whatever, I guess I'll see what happens. I'd like to see how many other people with Safari 4 have this problem.
March 22, 200916 yr Take screen shots. This is the best way to show us what your seeing. I can try Safari 4 tomorrow and see what I get.
March 22, 200916 yr Notice how the navigation links are missing also? Just be careful when you download Safari 4. It'll replace your current one.
March 22, 200916 yr Notice how the navigation links are missing also? Just be careful when you download Safari 4. It'll replace your current one. Ewww that's nasty looking. It must be a javascript issue, maybe our coding isnt up to the new standards coming about.
March 22, 200916 yr I'm currently using Version 4 Public Beta (5528.16) and have not had a single issue with the site.
April 1, 200916 yr Notice how the navigation links are missing also? Just be careful when you download Safari 4. It'll replace your current one. The same thing happens with Google Chrome
April 1, 200916 yr Ewww that's nasty looking. It must be a javascript issue, maybe our coding isnt up to the new standards coming about. I'm guessing it's a CSS issue. I'll take a look some time when I'm not at work. EDIT: Rich, you were right. The new version of WebKit doesn't like something in one of the JavaScript files referenced in these 4 lines: <SCRIPT language="JavaScript1.2">dqm__codebase ="jsMenu/" </SCRIPT> <SCRIPT language="JavaScript1.2" src="./UrbanOhio.com l Ohio's Ultimate Urban Site!.htm_files/menudata.js"></SCRIPT> <SCRIPT language="JavaScript1.2" src="./UrbanOhio.com l Ohio's Ultimate Urban Site!.htm_files/tdqm_loader.js"></SCRIPT> <SCRIPT language="JavaScript1.2" src="./UrbanOhio.com l Ohio's Ultimate Urban Site!.htm_files/tbrowser_ns.js"></SCRIPT> When I have more time, I'll try to see what the menu JS code is doing.
May 31, 200916 yr just downloaded chrome on xp using parallels and the homepage displays fine for me. Using version 2.0.172.28 Safari also displays correctly.
June 9, 200916 yr Alright so I just upgraded from Safari 4.0 Public Beta to Safari 4.0 and the site looks fine. It's weird that it didn't display correctly with the beta. But, it's fixed. :-)
July 1, 200915 yr I have the new iphone 3gs and the blank space is back while using safari. I have a 2nd gen iphone 3G and I get the same thing ever since I upgraded to the new iphone software. Didn't think UO was loading until i scrolled down through the darkness and there she was. Not a big deal, but annoying.
