I found this forum a while back, and thought it was awesome.  I finally signed up for the forum because I want to post some threads.  I like to explore America's urban areas both big and small, and take photos.

 

I burned on Vacation day on the first day of spring and decided to go to Philly in the spur of the moment. I spent a short time in Philly in my first job out of college. The city was great, but the job was horrible so I departed it shortley before a year of living there.

 

The new Comcast skyscraper is now the tallest in Pennsylvania.  It wasn't there when I lived in Philly.

I love this mural of the S.E. Pennsylvania Amish country right in Center City.

I drank here only twice. I use to be a booze hound in Philly, and drank at the Irish Pub on 12th/Walnut street after work.  This trip I some how didn't walk this block.  Oh well, I didn't want to sit on a bar stool anyways.

 

I drove out of Center City shortley before 4 PM.  I went up Lancaster Ave to my old stomping grounds of Ardmore and shot a few pictures before heading 5 hours west back home.  I never had pictures of Ardmore from when I use to live there as I was a fat and lazy drunk at that time. 

I lived in a old hotel building that was renovated into apartments.

I've never been to Philly, but I'd really like to go.  It looks like a great city, and it is such a success story of a city coming back.

Philly has such great building stock.  I don't think I could ever get tired of exploring this city.  Really great photos and I hope to see more threads.

 

Comcast Tower.  You know I basically feel like I'm donating money to them at the moment since I haven't sat down and actually watched TV in months.  But hey, they have an amazing hq building.

Although I have never lived there, both my mom and dad are from Philly and all my cousins live there (in the NE Philly neighborhood).  Center City has really made a great comeback.  Philly is a great example of fixing the urban core FIRST and the whole city being better for it.

Great pictures, there is a bunch of cities in Pennsylvania I'd love to see.

It's too bad center city Philly has to paint such a false picture of the city. We went through some serious slums, further out from the center. What you're seeing in the center city is actually the geography of international investment starting in the 60s and 70s.

They aren't being torn down.  I think a few similar projects nearby stalled out because of the economy.
