Getting in a fight at a festival or causing mayhem at a festival because there is "nothing to do" when you are literally at a festival with activities is quite something.  I used to be a big skat

Monday it was Lakewood. Today it's Bay Village.

Homicide is different from other violent crimes.    The vast majority of cases are either tied to gangs and the drug trade, or are domestic in nature.

The latter can and do happen anywhere.

This is correct. Domestic Homicides transcend racial and economic status. Love is a powerful drug.

Channel 19 news reporter in one in Lakewood the other day.   Both parties shot and the male deceased.   No reporting in this story as to whether she fired back at him in self defense, etc.

If I had to guess, and only a guess, I would say it was a failed murder suicide.

Five women and him in the house…and this is the second time a woman had run out saying she’s been attacked/held against her will. And only the victim was arrested??? Hmmmmm

Don’t think you’ll be seeing the St Mary Magdalene festival anymore. It’s on the down low at the moment, but there was a shooting outside of it by East Clevelanders.

Oh, by East Clevelanders, you say? Good to know that they were from East Cleveland. I guess we should all be on the lookout for people from East Cleveland.

It's not on the down low at all among people in the area. The kid who got shot was released the next day, I don't think they have caught a suspect yet but they likely know in general who did it.

"these incidents at local festivals keep happening."

For a long time now. I disremember exactly when the St. Monica's festival in Garfield Heights shut down, but the reasons were the same.

And Garfield Heights Home Days was discontinued a few years earlier for the same reason. I've noticed that the few church festivals that remain have a heavy security presence and rules restricting juveniles not accompanied by an adult.

As have many fireworks displays, 4th of July festivals. Unfortunately the circumstances are all the same, whether X likes to hear it or not.

The restrictions on the juveniles all too often lead to problems in the neighborhoods. That happened at StRW in Euclid last year and that's what happened at Magdalene.

Yeah, I grew up in Willowick and actually went there when they still had the grade school. Don’t know anyone that lives there anymore, just know a couple city workers and just found out about it. Sucks to see, that was a staple of my childhood.

As Monica's was mine since St. Martin's didn't have one. I grew up in Maple Heights so my views are similar.

Lol, how is this guy(?) a moderator.

Anyway, I'll see you all at the Euclid fireworks. I mean Garfield Hts. I mean Shaker Hts. I mean Coventry arts fair. I mean... damn, what happened to those anyhow.

so, X. is JB a racist or is he not?

Maybe if he had some decent answers to the questions I'd posed I would have said "no". But I'm guessing he doesn't since he keeps evading, which leads me to "yes".

The thing about this whole thread going off the rails here is that it's over the choice of one descriptive phrase, i.e. "East Clevelanders" - there is a decent chance that this one as innocent word choice meant to reflect people from a community more associated with crime than Garfield Hts. @X , though I also understand your comment as well in that it could very easily also be chosen as statistically the highest % of black residents of any Ohio city...

Having said all that... let's agree on this...

Groups of individuals with bad intentions have in the past, and continue to, destroy local community festivals that many of us remember attending. I think the fact that we've digressed into a pedantic argument about if a word choice was a dog whistle is reflective of our inability as a society to address this issue.

Having said all that... let's keep it on topic and reset. @X , let's let @JB go and drop it. @JB remember that word choice on here isn't conversational - it's black and white on a computer screen and it's very easy to interpret what you said as targeting the poorest and most black city in the state for exactly that reason. No reason to keep bickering unless it's about proposed solutions to community policing for these events.
