Got a "problem" property in the neighborhood, on E. 156th just north of Lakeshore.  Vacant house.  I'm not sure if anyone's broken in, but it has a big porch that has become a "hangout" of sorts in nice weather, being right across from Walgreen's as it is.  Drinking in the front yard, allegedly the back is being used as a potty.

Many people have (supposedly) contacted Polensek, with little luck if any.  Any other ideas?

Getting in a fight at a festival or causing mayhem at a festival because there is "nothing to do" when you are literally at a festival with activities is quite something.  I used to be a big skat

Do you know who owns the house?  First step would be to try to work with the owner.  If you can't find them, then you may want to get together with your neighbors to watch the property, call the police for trespassing, etc.

Don't let polensek off that hook that easily. Get a few people and show up to his office. These guys need to earn their money. We did this with Matt zone in Detroit shore way. I emailed him weekly about a heroine house for almost three months, people were being carted out of it in body bags. Eventually got the house boarded up and the owner in jail. Obviously Building a case takes a bit, but we put a full court pressure on him and the CDO, is there a CDO there?

Oops should have been posted in Cleveland City....old habits.  :)  Can it  be moved?

It's going to be more of an issue as summer approaches I suspect.  Last summer a few tall boy connoisseurs were sitting on the wall across from my brother's place, when I was staying there until my new place was ready.  I'm told I have cop mannerisms, and they quit not long after I came around.

This is North Collinwood I am not sure if there is a CDO.  There was a resident's association but it's dormant.

Update:  apparently the house is owned by a woman who lives in California who has her cousin "keep an eye on it".  He's allegedly one of the ringleaders of the bunch that hangs out there.  Not sure about the legalities then.

Polensek's office told people to call 911 when they are out there.

90% of the time, things like this are related to a boyfriend/ex of one of the daughters, I suspect that's where the cops are looking.

Scary. If our suspicions are correct, wayyyy too much of this going on. Angry, possessive men harming women is unacceptable

Meanwhile in Maple Heights, the "All Star Ultra Sports Bar" has a big sign in the window saying it's closed and any activity at the site should be reported to the police.  There's been a couple gunshot incidents there, as well as a couple when it was called the "Maple Leaf".

As "Carol's Maple Leaf" it was a city institution of sorts for decades.

Two armed men rob Lakewood man, police say

LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- A man was robbed of his phone and wallet by two armed men early Wednesday morning, police say.

The 53-year-old man was not hurt in the robbery that happened just before 1:30 a.m. on Lewis Drive near Madison Avenue, Lakewood police Capt. Ed Hassing said.  The man was walking home when two men approached and pointed guns at him, police say.  The robbers went through his pockets and took his wallet and phone, Hassing said. The man did not resist.  They ran northbound and got into an unknown vehicle that drove northbound on Lewis Drive, the call log says.

2 officers, another person shot in Willoughby Hills

WILLOUGHBY HILLS, OH (WOIO) -

Two police officers and another person were injured following an officer-involved shooting in Willoughby Hills. All three are in stable condition, according to authorities.

Chief Christopher Collins said around 2 p.m. Thursday, their officers were called by management to Classic BMW for a customer problem. Collins says management told police the customer was irate and may have been under the influence.

"The dealership had not had any other contact with this customer before. They contacted us because he was acting, what they felt was, under the influence and that's when they responded here," Collins said.

Well, we had a drive-by shooting last night at about 10 pm (I was putting my son to bed) in Lakewood in the alley behind my Clifton Blvd condo building. It's a residential alley called Clifton Prado. The suspect rapidly fired 16 shots at a house from a semi-automatic weapon. The suspect and the Clifton Prado resident got into a fight earlier in the day. This was a continuation of that fight. Lakewood police said they know who the suspect is. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

A couple weeks ago, we had a guy literally on parole for voluntary manslaughter put a bullet through the front window at 2am after being kicked out following a fight.  He changed his shirt and came back in to get his phone, but his neck tattoo made him rather recognizable.  Busted.

Last night in Olmsted township, some people entered a bar at about 1am to go after the bartender.  Patrons defended her, one dead and the bartender had a minor stab would.  I knew the basics of this last night, but the media still isn't reporting it (unless the various comments sections count).

Things happen after 1am.

More carjackings in Lakewood. Happening further and further west---this one Saturday night by "Around the Corner".

Hmm...wonder why there's no description of the suspects?

Get out of here with that crap. Go back to Cleveland.com

Well I can't do that anymore after pointing out that a piece written by a marketing director should have been tagged as "sponsor content".  :)

He does have a point, especially since not including descriptions has become a joke and leads to assumptions that aren't always fair.

Hundreds of neighborhood homes affected by Sunday's explosion in East Cleveland -- from broken windows to actual structural damage, according to East Cleveland Police Department.

State Investigating Sunday Explosion At East Cleveland Home

why is the State investigating? Is it because E CLE lacks the personnel to do so or because they lack the ability?

A lot of those homes around there look new including the one blown up, and the neighborhood looks tidy. What a shame.

In a case like this I think it's automatic.

I'm wondering if the gas was turned on.  Sounds like it may have been.

I thought the same thing. When I heard it was in E Clev I wasn't expecting to see what looks to be a decent neighborhood.

^Even today, East Cleveland still has plenty of solid housing stock.  Another reason we need to save it.

Yeah, but this street has well kept NEWER homes.  I know there are some streets with older homes that are well kept, but I didn't realize there were any streets that had been rebuilt with exclusively newer homes.

Look across the street in Cleveland (on Google Maps) as well.  Much dingier.

^I can see what you mean, there are some boarded up homes across the street in Cleveland proper, but going down the east/west side streets (Saywell, Castlewood, Forest Grove, Chesterfield) toward 123rd in Cleveland, it really doesn't look that bad honestly on Google maps, there are a lot of well kept homes, and few empty lots. The commercial streets are pretty decimated, I'll give you that...but they usually are anyway, even in better neighborhoods.

Occam's razor explanation:  the last residents never bothered to have the gas shut off and the bill didn't hit the point where it would get disconnected anyway.  The scavengers somehow knew the place was empty (perhaps that it had just been purchased) and didn't bother to check the gas supply.

Watch someone still try to sue the new owner and/or Dominion.

I have covered a number of stories in which houses were either still occupied or recently vacated in which the utilities were not yet shut off, and then copper pipes were stolen from the home leaving water to fill up a basement and start streaming down the driveway, or causing natural gas to alarm the neighbors and call police.  Apparently this one didn't smell bad enough to call the police, or the police were called and they didn't respond..

What's going on on East 125th??

An early morning fire annihilated two houses and damaged three more early Wednesday on East 125th Street in East Cleveland, just three days after a house explosion leveled a home and destroyed several others on the same street. Luckily, no one was injured.

It even happens at a governmental level.  When Maple Heights closed down West Junior High School during the early 80s, they turned off the heat but either didn’t properly drain the pipes or didn’t even turn off the water (stories vary).  The result was predictable, and a relatively modern school building less than 20 years old was trashed within a year.

Damn. It is amazing how much heat burning houses can generate. The house across the street from me recently burned, and the heat alone damaged the neighboring place and even caught the trees on fire. The trees are all browned out halfway up now. Even the neighbors shrubs were ruined.

Very odd this happens on the same street as the explosion and so soon after though.

Likely gang members break into a gun shop in Mentor.  MPD and allies go 4 for 4, including an individual with an active murder warrant in Cleveland.

Would they have been more successful in the city or inner ring? Do cases like this start pushing such crime back inward?

What else was in his system?  Illicit pot is often laced with other stuff including PCP.

It says nothing else, but if I'm not mistaken dust can flash back on one.

This is going to haunt Mayor Jackson for a long time. Mason got only 9 months in prison for trying to kill his wife. Jackson hired him (despite the huge cache of weapons found when Mason was arrested). Now Mason has killed his wife, allegedly....

M might be for Mini-pumper.
