Posted April 8, 200916 yr Hi there, I was looking at this website for a looong time and I feel like it is now the time to be a member. Went to Walker & Weeks building last Friday and loved it. The building inside is great, apartments are very good (except some minor things) I was looking for 1 bedroom, which complex has only 4 of them, so I may be forcing for a 2 bedroom. The thing is, I cannot find any reviews about the building... As being a CSU student, it would be a great place for me to live, but I want to listen to people who lived/are living there. I can simplify my questions into some list maybe: What are the major positive/negative sides of the building? Is it a dangerous part of the city (Prospect/Carnegie E24nd) ? How is the management? Is it going to be cold in winter? Parking is OK for you, but for friends? What would be the average price of a 2-bedroom? IF Carnegie facing side is too noisy, what would be the direction? Incoming parcel handling, like UPS, Fedex? Anything you would add is appreciated, thanks...
April 8, 200916 yr i liked the units there and i think the building is very well constructed, but i haven't lived there or known anyone that has lived there. the one drawback appears to be location - eastern edge of downtown and i-90, but if you are at CSU, then this is a plus. for crime stats, you can look realtime at the entire area - http://www.crimereports.com/map?search=Cleveland+OH
April 8, 200916 yr WR, cut it out. :D I like the building too, but its remote location has kept me from seriously considering it. But if you have a bicycle and are going to school at CSU, it's probably decent. I couldn't tell you how much noise comes into the building, but I would think the Inner Belt is a bigger source of noise than Carnegie. I would think a westward or northward direction would be best, not for less noise but for better views. April 8, 200916 yr The Innerbelt may not be that loud there because it is sunken. When I worked out at the Y I never noticed any innerbelt noise, even when outside. I know the WW Building is a little closer to the Innerbelt, but I can't imagine it being that loud from the inside of the building. I would think Carnegie shouldn't be a problem either, although it is at the same level as the building.
April 9, 200916 yr I lived in the Heritage Suites, more or less next door, for a year about a decade ago. I felt pretty safe, though unfortunately the park at Trinity was always overrun with homeless and the AmeriTemps agency clients would hang out in front of their operation while waiting for a job and start trouble, mostly with each other. From my forays down that way, I don't think those things have changed, though the address for AmeriTemps has. The biggest thing was that the area always seemed a little deserted when classes were out for the day or the summer, though hopefully that's changing some with more renovation and student housing. All in all, it's not the best location Downtown, but with your school and work needs, it might work out well.
April 9, 200916 yr WesternReserve : Why do you think the building would be cold in the winter? He was taking your original comment "Is it going to be cold in winter?" literally and turning it into a joke. "Yes, it is going to be cold in winter," he was joking. "Oh, do you mean cold inside W&W? Well, that's another matter!" "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
