June 21, 20222 yr Well this came out of nowhere... Xenia Towne Square to be redeveloped as mixed-use complex After engaging with the community and working with a prominent local developer to devise a conceptual master plan, the city of Xenia and its partners are ready to move forward with a long-term project to redevelop the Towne Square. The massive undertaking, which will likely take several years to complete, will represent an investment that could exceed $75 million. The effort began in earnest about a year ago when the city engaged developer Dillin LLC to come up with a master plan that updates and rebuilds the 15-acre, eight-building area of Xenia in an effort to accommodate a new future not just for this site, but the downtown area and entire city. Dillin says it's important to respect the context of the surrounding historic downtown, while working to re-establish a more economically vibrant mixed-use neighborhood. "It's important to understand this project is intended not just to be successful in its own right, but designed to help make Xenia more of a destination location," Dillin LLC President and CEO Larry Dillin said. August 28, 20231 yr I rode the Jamestown Connector trail this past weekend - unexpectedly, the trail has recently (possibly this year as the surfacing looked very fresh) been extended about five miles past the Greene County Line, where the trail terminated since its construction 20+ years ago. None of this is noted anywhere online and the trail maps in Xenia haven't been updated. There are zero maps or signs on the old or new section of this trail. This means that it's now a 40-mile RT from Xenia to the new terminus...with zero drinking fountains. I only took one water bottle since I was expecting a 30-mile ride, meaning I ran out of water. The new terminus is a bit east of I-71, in this sort-of town: There is also a large new park u/c south of the trail, about five miles east of Xenia. The trail is left-to-right at the bottom of this photo...they built the new bathrooms within site of it. The structure has a drinking fountain...but it wasn't turned on yet: Edited August 28, 20231 yr by Lazarus

August 2, 2024Aug 2 Second phase in $140M Greene County project to begin soon A Greene County city is in the process of a major rebrand to its town square. With phase one wrapping up soon, the city and developers are looking ahead toward what's to come. Plans to begin phase two of the Market District, a $140 million project at the prominent crossroads of Main and Detroit streets in historic Xenia, were recently announced. Xenia Community Improvement Corporation, in partnership with Dillin LLC, have finalized a redevelopment strategy that is intended to elevate the commercial and residential markets in downtown Xenia. The Xenia Towne Square Shopping Center was constructed following a tornado that devastated the city in 1974. The Market District project was rebranded to reflect the historic aspects of the site, pre-tornado, which boasted retail shops and historic homes with a street grid. The overall master plan is projected to bring back much of that original downtown, walkable, mixed-use feel and provide residents a revamped entertainment hotspot.
