One of the largest private universities in Ohio is set to begin a $35 million construction project to provide its growing student population and multiple academic schools and departments with a better facility for liberal arts and general education classes.

Cedarville University, located in the village of Cedarville along U.S. Route 42 and state Route 72, has spent the last eight years changing the look and improving the functionality of its campus through six major building projects. Now, it looks to wrap up its 10-year campus master plan with one final new addition: the Bolthouse Academic Center.

The 48,000-square-foot, three-story building will house multiple academic schools and departments currently residing in inadequate facilities. The building will be completed in March or April 2027, fully operational for the 2027-2028 academic year.

One of the largest private universities in Ohio, on the heels of record-breaking enrollment numbers, is pursuing another improvement project to develop an underused area along the town’s main thoroughfare and address ongoing student housing pressures.

Cedarville University will begin construction on the first of four off-campus apartment buildings on the eastside of state Route 72 across from the main campus, with the goal of opening them for the 2026 academic year.
