Good luck today folks! Do all you can to make 48 fail. Cincy isnt the only city banking on the outcome of this.

What? No  Luken? No Louis? No Kasich? Hardly seems right to leave them out.

I am ashamed to say Luken, Louis, and Kasich slipped my mind

I saw a Seelbach tweet that people were taking in copies of City Beat into one of the Clifton polling places. That's good news.

Clifton isn't where I'm worried about though.

Volunteered at the Salvation Army poll on Clay St. this morning. No clue if turnout was heavy or light for that poll (it's the first time that has been a polling station) but virtually everyone was supporting NO on 48.

Weather should be nice, which should help turnout (likley to help us).

Pretty heavy turnout at Nativity in Pleasant Ridge this morning.  There was a guy there handing out literature to vote "Yes" on 48, standing next to several Democratic council candidate volunteers ("A Yes on 48 means No on the Streetcar").  I informed him I would definitely be voting NO on 48 and he was very polite about it.  Hard to tell how the voters were going, but I did hear two people laughing about the streetcar on their way out.  I didn't leave with a particularly good feeling, but we shall see.  I have seen a lot of "No on 48" signs in areas like Walnut Hills and Evanston.  Hope they help.

Nice weather tends to bring out the older crowd. The "No on 48" diehards would have voted if there was a blizzard today, but the marginal voters scare me.

Doc Thompson mixed it up on 700wlw this morning.  Said you have to vote "NO" on Issue 48 if you do not want the streetcar.  He's too smart not to get it mixed up at this point.  I think he's secretly hoping Issue 48 fails so he can get more ratings for his show

This is fantastic. Good fun.

Nothing major to report from where I voted at the OTR Recreation Center, except that Google Maps gives an incorrect location for the address (1715 Republic Street). The polling location can be entered from either Race Street (much easier to find) or Republic.

I'm staying far away from WLW today; I can't stomach their subtle jabs and insults anymore. It would be fun to listen tomorrow though if 48 goes down in flames.

I think many here are vastly overestimating the number of streetcar opponents who are legally registered voters in the city of cincinnati. Almost all open streetcar opposition is from non-cincinnatians.

Doc Thompson, who bashes the streetcar on a daily basis, has been confusing yes vs. no on Issue 48 for weeks.

Full disclosure, I also had a bad feeling in 2009, so maybe that's a good thing!

Salvation Army this morning was busy with a line but horrible service was slowing things down.

Wasn't bad in Northside at 23c around 1:30 PM, with no line for both precincts. There was some campaign signs and junk on the street, including someone holding up a Smitherman sign and dancing.

Is anybody hearing any updates?

Barring any irregularities, there probably won't be much to report until after the polls close at 7:30 and results start to come in.

^ What if you forget to reload your bank account? Not only do you get turned down and possibley left stranded, but you also share that information with all your neighbors.

This must be a joke comment... you're kidding right?

If you go to the gas station and "forget to 'reload' your bank account" you'd be just as screwed.

I remember staying up late in 2009 watching results of issue 9.  The results looked good immediately and continued to look good until around 1am when the results were official.  It usually takes until about 10pm or so before the major polling places start reporting to news outlets.

Suspense: :shoot:    (me)

Well everyone, tonight we find out if we move forward with a progressive plan to enhance our city and its ability to move people and attract new residents or we find out that we've become the laughing stock of the nation for banning itself from building passenger rail for a generation!

...kind of a big deal:)

If you want to see results as they come out and before the local news report them go here: http://www.hamilton-co.org/boe/ and click on the left hand side of the page "election results" then "real time results"  A pdf will pop up with up to date results as they are reported.

God, I remember checking this site frantically for hours in 2009 as results rolled in.  Its deja-vu!!

Only 4 more pages to hit my 2011 Election Night Streetcar Thread 500 Page Prediction!!!!

This is it....

Lets hope rational people showed up at the polls...

I might make it to Arnold's tonight to meet some of you guys.  If there are some good results before I leave and the issue looks doom, I will lift my indefinite suspension of Applebees and bring some Mozzarella Cheese sticks

How can they be so slow??? I mean In Ky they just said the current  won reelection. Why is Hamilton County so slow???

Kentucky's polls closed at 6, ours not until 7:30.  Its only been 25 minutes.  Patience:)

Isn't that where the COAST party is tonight? Well, at least until it closes at 10.

Anyone else notice that entire second piece of paper was necessary for Issue 48?  How much did that cost?

^^No, I heard COAST will be at Champs downtown tonight.

Just another waste of taxpayer money and trees brought to you by Finney & friends!

Actually, the Enquirer says it's at the Smitherman campaign headquarters in Bond Hill.

Here's something fun to do while waiting for results.  Look at the official election results from 2009.  You can see how each precinct voted on Issue 9.  It gives the exact number of yes and no votes for each site.  Pretty interesting.  Take some time to look up how your precinct voted last time around.  Its also interesting to look at other parts of the city and find where the race was closer.

Oh and if you're looking for a map that shows where all the voting districts are, here's the only one I could find.  You have to click on the top under "map layers" then add "voting disctricts" and use the zoom function to see each area.

After absentee voting, according to a MetroCincy tweet. Five of nine SC supporters:

Here are the top nine after the early votes: Qualls Thomas Winburn Young Sittenfeld Simpson Quinlivan Smitherman Seelbach

Issue 48

0 of 173 precincts reporting:

Yes 7,162 51.4%

No 6,781 48.6%

Absentee Issue 48 results show 51% Yes, 48% No (from board of election real time results)

:(

Where are these numbers coming from if zero precincts are reporting?

Horstman tweet:

Anti-streetcar Issue 48 narrowly leads, 51-49 percent, with 7 percent of vote counted. Much too early and too close for conclusions. #ohel

Same here.  I'm also nervously eating an entire tube of goetta.  COAST is bad for my health.

In 2009 they had 93% results in by 11:09pm.

HA HA HA HA!! You just painted the funniest picture of yourself right now!  Thank you for the much needed comic relief!

Damn - nervous as well - hopefully numbers swing more against as more votes come in like the last vote.

Relax everyone.  Zero precincts reporting.
