Kind of hope they leave the streetcat tracks.  You won't see them anyway since it'll be under the cobblestones.

I didn't cross my mind until you posted this, but you are exactly right. The concrete that they poured today is underneath the parking lane and should be re-covered with cobblestones. The streetcar tracks will be placed one lane to the left, where the concrete truck is in my photo above.

Also, streetcar manager John Deatrick confirmed that the all of the remaining stones will be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled. So that whole block of Elm Street should be really nice when this is all done, not at all like the un-level, bumpy mess that it was before.

What is the difference in gauge from old to new?  It would be neat to see one of the old lines left in place but that is doubtful.

The old gauge was 5ft. 21/2 inches.  The new gauge is standard railroad gauge.

The old broad gauge was chosen in order to prevent standard gauge freight cars from being towed through city streets.

You can count on Cranley exercising the 90-day delay in the CAF contract, all for show.

Cranley would have to fire and replace the city manager before that could happen.

Hmm is Cranley for sure to win???? Be positive everyone.

The address listed on the paid for line doesn't even exist! Does anyone know who this is? Citizens for Informed Voters, C. Ritter, Treasurer, 5758 Grovedale Place, Cincinnati OH 45208. This is an elections law violation.

Grovedale? Sounds like a place some southern Franklin County residents made up after moving to Cincinnati.

It showed up for me on google maps. Am I missing something?

It's a real street (near Withrow High School, so the zip code is correct), but the numbers only go up to the 3000's.

Oh wow. Yea a house shows up when I type into google maps but the same house when I type other numbers.

Exactly what I got too.... I also noticed that the street is next to zumstein... Where coast hq are

there's a 3758

typo?

I saw the mailer yesterday.  Didn't get it but a friend did.  it looks pretty cheap.  Also, didn't Seelbach technically vote against the parking deal? they list him as having voted for the parking deal. I wonder if that's worth an elections complaint.

In other news-  I wish they were working on the streetcar full blast every weekend...

there's a 3758

typo?

So there is no 5758...which they put on the address

3758 belongs to a man and a woman with the last name of  Thomas and glorioso respectively.  The previous owner name was hittie.  There is no sign of a 'c ritter'  anywhere on this street or in the city of Cincinnati

Good find .  Either way the address listed on the flyer is not real.  A copy been sent to the election investigation office according to Cincinnati streetcar fbook page.  Apparently it's full of mistruths and lies

EXCLUSIVE: First look at streetcar's modern design

The rail cars that will run on Cincinnati’s streetcar route are expected to have a streamlined, modern design – with a nod to the past.

The five streetcars will be painted orange, gray and white, feature a street-level floor and have a nearly all-glass front, according to renderings posted on the rail-car manufacturer’s official website.

Mayor Mark Mallory and a representative from manufacturer CAF USA are expected to officially unveil the renderings to streetcar supporters during a rally Monday night in Over-the-Rhine.

Uh oh, secondary colors? How un-American! The only colors we're supposed to see are red, black, silver and white.

That kind of whimsicality is sure to make hipsters show up.

;)

If they really want to bring back the "traction orange" color scheme, they'd do cream instead of white.

Jefferson Ave., eh? Nice touch.

Did the CAF website just refer to Cincinnati as The Capital of Ohio????

Many Spaniards whom I have met speak very little English and know even less about US geography.

when did capital start meaning capitol?

Auto correct says it is so, and so it shall be I guess...

Love that color scheme!

The streetcar meeting is about to start.  Lets hope the local media actually covers it instead of the loudmouths of COAST/Smitherman/Cranley

>Love that color scheme!

Only about 100 people in Cincinnati will recognize the huge innovation in these low-floor vehicles.  Not only are the streetcars entirely low-floor, there is one more door per side of each streetcar as compared to the Skoda vehicles in Portland, Seattle, and Washington.

Heard council is holding a special budget council meeting today to discuss stopping streetcar before the election?  Is this a smitherman desperation ploy?  700wlw also reported this this is in preparation for 'when' Cranley is elected and said it was a secret?

I understand the first load of rebar for beneath the track was delivered to the site yesterday.  Has anyone seen any rod busters placing the steel yet today?  If so, can someone be kind enough as to please take a picture or two.  I'm out of town for the next few days and I'm dying to see some steel go in the ground.

You'll get your wish very very soon

This question has probably been answered before, but if Cranley wins will he have the ability to stop the streetcar?

Also, what are the chances that Cranley wins?

It's possible he cancels it, but it would be difficult and would come with massive costs.

He would first need 5 members of council willing to fire Dohoney right away (there are likely some anti-streetcar people who sill wouldn't fire Dohoney right away).

Then he would need to be willing to spend nearly $70 million canceling the project (paying back all utilities for work already done) paying profits to MPD and CAF, paying expenses incurred to both groups and millions in legal fees.

And of course, returning the $44 million in federal grants.

We would have rail in the ground and wouldn't have saved any money.

+ litigation from many...probably including...COAST

I have heard that litigation could be pursued from every contractor and sub-contractor related to the project if the city decides not to pay their profit costs. That's a lot of lawyers!

Also because of the litigation the funds for the streetcar would be held in escrow for years (like the $15 million in escrow pending the resolution of the Duke lawsuit).

It's almost like that money could be put to better use elsewhere... like finishing the streetcar!

First track gets delivered Oct. 15.  Low floor is going to be a huge improvement, as are the four doors on each side.

Pamula Thomas is now calling for the city to stop the streetcar project.  Says "Its a burden"

They are probably inspired by the teabaggers in the House.  "We can stop anything!"
