November 5, 201311 yr I'm hearing turnout is better than expected so far. Good news, I think. Glad the weather is perfect today.
November 5, 201311 yr Whatever your thoughts on the streetcar, don't vote for Laure Quinliven, she is a joke and an embarrassment to the city and has no business on council
November 5, 201311 yr Whatever your thoughts on the streetcar, don't vote for PG Sittenfeld, he is a joke and an embarrassment to the city and has no business on council ^ There. Fixed it for ya ;)
November 5, 201311 yr This is it guys....4.5 hours left. VOTE. Tell everyone you know to vote. The Enquirer, Tea Party, COAST, Hamilton County GOP, 700wlw, and Enquirer are going ALL OUT for John Cranley, Amy Murray, etc. They are counting on you and your friends not voting
November 5, 201311 yr Was looking at a thread on NextDoor. There was some Streetcar support. Nobody was yelling at any of the streetcar supporters.
November 5, 201311 yr Whatever your thoughts on the streetcar, don't vote for Laure Quinliven, she is a joke and an embarrassment to the city and has no business on council I've been pleasantly surprised with her. She's done a lot more to create jobs than the moron with the jobs creation committee.
November 5, 201311 yr Was looking at a thread on NextDoor. There was some Streetcar support. Nobody was yelling at any of the streetcar supporters. Most rational people understand that it is happening and can't be stopped. I don't hear anybody going b4t5h1t crazy over it except for the COAST / tea party types.

November 5, 201311 yr Just confirmed a few people I know voted and voted for Roxy. Sadly I am a little outside city limits, but hopefully zoo and library also pass.
November 5, 201311 yr Jeff Cramerding @Jcramerding 13m Unofficial turnout as of 3 p.m. from Ward 6: A (downtown) 13%; C (otr) 10%: D (pendleton) 6%. If you have other #s pls send Jeff Cramerding @Jcramerding 2m Turnout for 26J (13%) and 26B (15%) both in Westwood. Thanks, @sdiddycomes
November 5, 201311 yr Ryan Hoffman @RyanHoffman3 30m So far, 6,547 people have voted at the four precincts surrounding @uofcincy. @NewsRecord_UC
November 5, 201311 yr How many precincts are in the city? 344 or something - maybe I am misremembering...
November 5, 201311 yr How many precincts are in the city? 344 or something - maybe I am misremembering... No idea, but hopefully a lot of young college students from UC are voting. That would be huge for qualls presumably
November 5, 201311 yr Friend of mine (UC student) is voting Qualls...she didn't want to vote for the Tea Party-endorsed Cranley. So there's one UC student at least :)
November 5, 201311 yr ^I'm sure that vague statement will sway minds. Care to elaborate? Sure, you want someone who understands the issues. Someone who can make sound decisions with the tax payer money with the information available, Laure has no ability to do this. When you ask her what the city needs, all she says is more art work, more murals, etc. Now while these things are important there should be a pragmatic approach to this. While she supports the streetcar she blindly supports a bunch of other projects without any rationale for the costs, etc. At least Qualls, Seelbach, etc have demonstrated they at least take those isues into consideration. As far as I am concern Quinliven is a worthless clown.

November 5, 201311 yr Otr has a pretty bad turnout this far according to twitter accounts. 10% isn't going to cut it.

Unfortunately, she tends to vote quite often on items I agree with that come before City Council, so *sigh* she gets my vote. November 5, 201311 yr Otr at 13%,pendleton at 6%,hyde park 22. Qualls doesn't have a chance with those numbers

Didn't say I question the accuracy of some of these numbers that I see going around. I live in OTR and voted early. My vote might not be reflected in that number. Also, a lot of people might not be voting until they get off work.

There are other candidates that could bebetter and worth a look

As far as I am concern Quinliven is a worthless clown. I appreciate that Quinlivan is one of the only council members fighting hard to save parks and the arts. Every time there is a budget crunch, parks and the arts are the first thing to get cut. I'm glad that she is willing to be out there fighting to save them.
November 5, 201311 yr She's also taken stands promoting the LEED tax abatements, encouraging "right-sizing" police and fire (the only council member to do this routinely), and was a huge proponent of the electric/gas aggregation. I'm sure there are plenty of other things she has done as well that I can't think of without looking up. She has actually pushed more things that I can recall than many council members that currently serve (Sittenfeld, Winburn, Smitherman, Thomas).
November 5, 201311 yr Osborne reporting most precincts at 23 to 29 percent. This is going to be a huge Cranley victory unless people start voting. There's 2 hours standing in the way of a a Cranley 700wlw coast regime
November 5, 201311 yr encouraging "right-sizing" police and fire (the only council member to do this routinely) IMO this sets Quinlivan apart and makes her a great councilmember. I feel like she mostly arrives at right answers, often for the wrong reasons. But right-sizing public safety is extremely important to fiscal sustainability, and she is pretty much the only city politician with the b@lls to champion it.

November 5, 201311 yr Do these numbers include early voting? My guess would be no...I think he's referring to just walk in votes today

Most believe a low turnout favors Cranley heavily Low info Dems are usually the first to slack off. Republicans generally are attributed to being the best voters. I would guess low info Dems would vote Cranley, so a 100% turnout would probably favor Cranley over just a race between Republicans & high info Dems I wonder how many Reps will just sit it out. The loons won't, and that's about all you hear from nowadays. Some Tease might just vote for Rep council members & issue 4. Doesn't issue 4 prevent the city from borrowing money o pay down the pension deficit - one of Cranky's big promises?

Dems sat that one out and the Tea partiers/GOP were really motivated. Disastrous
November 5, 201311 yr From the Hamilton County BOE: 48.2% YES vs. 51.8% NO for Issue 48 (streetcar) with 37.70% turnout. And that was with the push for SB5. Get more data here for Nov. 2011: http://boe.hamilton-co.org/files/files/electionsArchive/nov11offcumulative.pdf EDIT: noticed I got the wrong numbers for YES/NO. Fixed that.

Doesn't tell the whole story though. The wording on that ballot initiative was misleading and many republicans that didn't like the streetcar voted against it because of how poorly written it was. I highly doubt any republicans are voting against Cranley
November 5, 201311 yr Honestly if you were not educated enough to understand it you should not be voting.
November 5, 201311 yr Honestly if you were not educated enough to understand it you should not be voting. A guy called into the Buzz today and said "I voted for John Cranley because he believes in God"
November 5, 201311 yr I don't think that high/low turnout necessarily indicates who wins tonight. Cranley's alliance with the Smithereens-Tea Party might have won him some votes but lost him others. Qualls' name recognition might have won or lost her some votes, depending on how people look back at her time as mayor in the 90's. I saw several comments from people saying that they were voting for issues or council candidates but abstaining from voting for mayor. Qualls has a lot more council candidates supporting her, but I will agree that Cranley's campaign has the "clearer" message (even if it's based on promises that he can't keep). Lots of factors at play.

November 5, 201311 yr A guy called into the Buzz today and said "I voted for John Cranley because he believes in God" That probably came from Booth's switch (what's the bible say about that?) http://thecincinnatiherald.com/news/2013/nov/04/former-naacp-president-paul-booth-endorse-john-cra/ Didn't realize the Good Samaritan was a pathological liar, but whaddIknow?
November 5, 201311 yr So if he cancels it. The city will never get a streetcar again, because they will still be paying for the canceled project. Like having the Bengals leave. You are still paying for the stadium and you will never get another team. OUCH!!!!!!!
