They get open 3's when we have to double down on Howard to prevent his 20/15 from becoming 45/20. We just don't have anybody that can handle him like Perkins was able to. That's why he worries me.

Then we may need to make use of D. Jackson and all 6 of his fouls then. I would be completely fine with Howard going to the line 20 times and making his 50% there.

I'm not sure we have enough players on the bench for that strategy. :)

I am not suggesting "hack - a - dwight".  But we have to make him work for his shot and keep from giving up easy baskets.  if that means tacking him, so be it.  Its either that or devoting 2 guys to him which opens up their outside shooters.

Perkins was effective in keeping him from getting an angle to the basket and forcing him to shoot tough 12 foot hook shots over him.  I don't think Z is quick enough or strong enough to do this, Anderson is not strong enough or tall enough, and Ben is not tall enough.

Yeah, Barkley was at it again last night...

let it go or do something.  If it bothers you that much do something!

Maybe he already has!  Do you really think Charles is going to change what he says based on a couple letters or emails from peons from Cleveland?  We aren't all as powerful as you.

Maybe if we ALL WRITE letters he'll apologize.  Yea, i'm sure that will help...

YES it does help IN THIS INSTANCE that is why I am suggesting this!!!

Varejao is a legit 6'10. He can do what Perkins did. He's a better overall defender than Perkins. Also, don't discount Z's length. It could be very disruptive against Howard if he keeps him from getting the ball too deep in the post. It's going to be difficult, but the Cavs frontcourt is much deeper than Boston's.

We have Lorenzen Wright for a reason..

True, I do think that Anderson has the best chance at stopping Howard.  I just don't feel he can body Howard up like Perkins did to keep him from making a move and getting an angle to the basket.

As far as Z goes, no way I see him being able to ever stop Howard without a lot of help.  Howard has some nice quick moves for a big guy and Z just cannot stop them.

How about Jawad Williams?  If he jumps on Dwight's back it might throw his shot off slightly. :)

Kobe-LeBron final could get derailed

8833237_6_4.jpg by Michael Rosenberg

The four best teams in the NBA are the last four left in the playoffs. This is how it is supposed to work. The two biggest stars in the NBA are staring at a championship showdown. This is how the NBA wants it to work. We are eight wins away from a battle between LeBron and Kobe — two men who, according to informed sources, do have last names. LeBron vs. Kobe would be the biggest, most exciting mano-a-mano matchup in the history of hyperbole.

I'm a bit nervous too. I would have preferred to face Boston.

What worries me is the 116-87 shellacking we took in Orlando on April 3. See the box score at:

http://www.nba.com/games/20090403/CLEORL/boxscore.html

That night, we couldn't hit the broad side of a barn let alone put the ball in the net. And Orlando didn't sink many more threes than we did. Battie and Johnson were the big difference. Our bench has to play a lot better against their bench. And based on what our bench has (or hasn't) done this postseason, that's why I'm worried.

The only other difference from that game is that both Wallace and Richardson are back from injury and playing with their respective teams again. Richardson is a bit player. While Wallace is also a bench player, he adds much more than Richardson does.

EDIT: LeBron may have to play more than the 38-40 minutes a game he's been playing so far this postseason (no more sitting out the fourth quarter!). He's rested and he's focused.

As my grandfather said, "that was a straight up ass whippin'"

That game was ugly to watch.  Our bench has to step up.  BIG TIME.

fellas, lorenzen is hurt.  thats why he has been in a suit the first 2 series.

I forgot, he has a hurt thumb?!  :?

Well remove Lorenzen and insert Hickson, Jackson, whoever..

Hickson is hurt as well.

Hickson is hurt as well.

When did all these babies get hurt?  WTF??!!

^They've been hurt since the last week of the regular season. They thought Hickson would return, but he keeps getting back spasms each time he tries to play. Wright got hurt during the last regular season game.

Back spasms?  Hell, you only get back spasms from one thing!  We are in the playoffs, they shouldn't be doing that thing at all!!  damnit!

Hey, I get back spasms and the only thing I'm mounting is a 757 to Heathrow!

Barclays Premier League is in the final 2 weeks of the campaign, going to any games??

Never heard of that league. What sport is it?

'Soccer'

I cant get to ESPN.com on my computer at work so i cant post a link, but did anyone see the article about the scheduling conflict between WWE Raw and game 4 of the nuggets v lakers in Denver?? Vince McMahon pretty much said he is showing up in Denver for his 6:30 pm start time which he already has a contract signed for, and the NBA said that game 4 will be live from 7:00 the same night.

Hickson is hurt as well.

His back is hurt.  He's not out though, they just aren't playing him because he sucks.  Wright is literally out for the season.. that loser..

I'll take that thug Kenyon Martin in a "wrasslin" match any day.

He's been listed as "Inactive" for every playoff game so far, not DNP-CD.

I think a better card would be you vs Momma Martin!  he he he he he

He is out.  He has been out.  He is not expected back this series.

From Terry Pluto this past Sunday

"Some fans have wondered about J.J. Hickson. He is not physically ready to play. He is still resting a significant bone bruise in his back and when he has tried to scrimmage, the result has been back spasms. It's doubtful he will have any role in the playoffs. "

Cut him.

Denver 106

Los Angeles 103

series tied 1-1

Assuming a cavs victory tonight, I would say LAL no has their hands more full than the cavs.

i would like to think so, but i'll check back in with you on that after the game tonight -- the cavs have their hands full too!

LA vs. CLEVELAND = NBA DREAM FINAL

DENVER vs. ORLANDO = DAVID STERN SUICIDE WATCH!

Denver vs. Orland final and you'll have not only a suicide watch on the commissioner, but about 3 million NEOians!

With BelievelandD1 number 1 on the watch list!  LOL

^eh, they're used to it.

In terms of ratings, yeah, the NBA/network wants LA v. Cleveland. Two popular markets a good distance apart, also with flagship players (Lebron vs. Kobe), etc. It will do outstanding business. I think the stars are aligned for Cleveland this year.

All the major networks are gearing up.  The commercials you've been seeing are only a small portion.  I checked some network buying and if LA/CLE is the NBA finals, you have no idea how many LBJ/KB commercials you will see plus the marketing efforts of the NBA.  It's insane.  I'm just hope Cleveland's tourism board buys something or asks for dead space.

Wow.  How bout them Nuggets??

In spite of the networks, I think it would be funny if neither Cleveland or LA made it to the finals. As a Cleveland fan I would hate see to us eliminated, but there's something about "The Establishment" not getting its way that warms a sadistic part of my heart. A Denver - Orlando finals would certainly screw The Establishment.

Oh, yeah, if the Cavs don't make it, I'm all for the networks getting screwed with a Denver-Orlando series.

Im 100% with you on this one. With all the money the NBA is pumping into advertisements and exposure for Kobe v Lebron, i think it would great to see them get shafted over and have a finals between Orlando and Denver. NOBODY outside of those 2 cities would care one bit about that series!

it would be very very low rated.  People want to see LBJ-kobe.  Carmelo and D12 are not big enough names for advertisers to buy into.

NBA Continues to Dominate U.S. TV Ratings

by Ryne Nelson

Baseball is slumping.  Hockey doesn’t stand a chance.  College and pro football are out of season.  Spelling bees, um… yeah.  Not only has bball drawn strong audiences in the Conference Finals, it’s setting all-time viewer records.  To give some perspective, Game 4s of the Lakers/Nuggets and Cavs/Magic series out-performed the five network stations in similar time slots.  Monday’s Lakers/Nuggets matchup drew 9.88 million viewers and a 6.9 national rating among adults 18-49, annihilating ABC’s The Bachelorette and NBC’s Dateline.  Game 4 was easily ESPN’s most-viewed basketball game ever as well as the most viewed game on cable in history.

But the record was short-lived as TNT’s telecast the following night of the Magic’s OT Game 4 win averaged 10.1 million watchers and a 6.3 national rating in the key demos.  Chaps, Game 4 was the most-watched show on cable this year! Although reeling from the summer transition, this Game 4’s audience closely rivaled CBS’ encore combination of bona fide hits NCIS and The Mentalist. Not bad at all.

if the finals are anything but LA-CLE there will be a sharp drop in viewers.

30% outside shooting from the Magic....

That stings.
