Posted April 22, 200916 yr Does anyone know where I can get tennis lessons in Cleveland. The Cuyahoga Community College has a course this summer but that doesnt start before the 1st of June and am looking to start sooner. Also any place I can go play tennis, perhaps some group that will find me a partner to play with. Thanks

That may be a source, or you may wish to join one of the local country clubs, with a tennis only membership, it's possible lesson may be included.

Thanks Now I have to say I told you so! :) If only you could have moved to the SW side of town, you could have moved into my apartment complex - the majority of the tenants here are Indians and they are always on the 3 tennis courts we have, as soon as the weather gets relatively warm and well into late fall. I've never seen anyone else using the tennis courts. The Indians don't speak to us, the only associate with other Indians and if I recall correctly you are Indian so you probably could have gained a lot of tennis partners over here.
April 23, 200916 yr But see I am not looking to stay in the community where the only people I interact with are other Indians !!! So am glad I didnt move there. Cuyahoga Community College has a course in tennis which I will probably take and then there is this website tenniscleveland.com which I can use to find partners. April 23, 200916 yr Where do you live? If you are on the east side, I know that Cain Park in Cleveland Heights has a fairly active tennis community and some programs and tournaments. Also in Cleveland Heights there is a private red clay tennis court which is fairly cheap to use, and may be good for linking you up with others (and getting to play on the only red clay tennis court in Ohio, if that sounds cool to you, haha).
April 23, 200916 yr Case has some courts near the intersection of Cedar and Euclid Heights. While it says you need to be a student, I highly doubt anyone is checking.
April 23, 200916 yr Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to swipe your ID card to get in? Or is that just for the outdoor basketball courts?
April 23, 200916 yr You could be right. I have only walked by those places and noticed signs. I never noticed a swipe in requirement. I will try to check next time.

That's why I asked what city he is a resident. He never gives full information. I think he lives in Beachwood. He should check beachwood parks department. If you live in Shaker Hts., Cleveland Hts. or University Hts., or is it if you are in the Cleve. Hts. & Univ. Hts. school district, you can use the parks interchangable as a resident as long as you have a parks card. When I was younger, I would meet my cousins at Cain Park or Forest Hills to play tennis, but those courts are really competitive and packed. If he lives in Beachwood, he'll have to pay the non resident fee to play in the Hts. and those can be high. Cleveland Hts., has the best recreation facilities in the county in my opinion.
April 23, 200916 yr I am pretty sure you don't have to be a resident to play at Cain Park. As far as facilities which are restricted (like the Cleveland Heights Rec Center), you have to either be a Cleveland Heights resident or 18 years or younger and live in the CHUH School District.

I'm not sying you need to be a resident, but I could have sworn they asked us for ID? Maybe things have changed since I was a kid. anyway, the parks are a great asset.
April 23, 200916 yr I live in Beachwood. I will look up Cain park in Cleveland Heights. Look up Forest Hill and Thorton Park as well. Lawd. How would manage without us??
April 23, 200916 yr Well, you have some really nice courts there in Beachwood already. Also look at this here brochure for lessons. Some start in June, but others have started already a few weeks ago.

April 23, 200916 yr From Urban Dictionary whipper snapper 92 up, 64 down What old people, generally your grandparents, call "youngsters". The word is derived from the term "snapping your whip" which means getting a b0n3r. So basically your granddad is calling you a whipper snapper because you can get it up and he can't. The term has been used less frequently since the development of viagra You whippersnappers!
